fs 700 4k coming ?

Well obviously bit annoyed that i didn't wait for NAB before getting the FS100. No sign of any more info for FS100 owners at the moment....

Looks like a great camera - the ND alone would make life a lot easier. No mention of what kind of output but with SDI it would be safe to guess that it's better than 8 bit and the slow mo is pretty incredible.

Those 3 things could be worth the price of admission.

All depends what the picture is like though...

Is today an official announcement day? (The 2nd?)

cheers
Paul

Genlock?!

Did Sony make the perfect 3D rig camera in terms of capabilities, size, weight etc... then not bother to put Genlock on it? WTF...

I guess you could shoot at 240fps HD and then sync - and you'd be within the nearest 1/480th of a second. But it's still irritating in the extreme.

I wouldn't be complaining if Sony offered a higher-end model... but the higher end models (F3 etc) are bigger and heavier, which is stupid for 3D rigs.

April 2nd now. So I guess there's a few of us that can start commenting, although I know a lot of information is part of that double-secret-probation-thing, so I'll err on the side of caution by saying the FS700 is going to knock some socks off, and probably a few other things.

Also there's more information and images yet to come.

:)

I´m shooting (not with the FS700 - it´s sadly back to Sony) till tomorrow, but after that, I will do a review on my blog.

All I can say now, the FS700 is awesome. Started to save my pennies. ;-)
I had a blast, shooting with it.

The slow-mo knocked me out of my socks.
One of the 4 new cinegama curves is dammed close to my G-LOG.
The full metal handle, ND filters better grip and all is what a lot of folks wanted.
You can touch the screen and get focus on that point, or you can set two point and do automatic rack focus like on the Epic.

There is a ton of very nice features.
Wish I had more time to play with her though.

im more excited to hear about the fs100 update and what will be added to that, assuming theyre adding features because it was pushed back.

Welll, damn, I guess it was real!

I wonder if some of the features, like the re-designed grip and top handle, can mount to the FS100?

And price?

I agree with Evan. Seeing the specs of the fs700 is awesome. But I would love if sit would release a complete list of the fs100 updates. I surely hope there are a few additional updates since they pushed the date back.

no such luck. the profile is changed in height from the 100 to 700. the forward cold shoe is now higher than it was before.

So Frank, I have to ask, how is the HL handling on the FS700? Use the same Batteries as the FS100? Is the menu system snappier? ISO, any way to set it up to do more than 4 easier? Low light, same performance? (which is damn good). Weight, how much heavier than the FS100?

Could you add spacers under the two rear bolts to match the height? Is it just height or have the physical positions changed too?

cheers

Citizen, you ask too many questions! To the end of the line for you!

...But at the same time, I'm not going to lose much sleep over the "next" camera or resolution…..

I retract my statement! I would have held out and then paid a few bucks more for what the FS700 reportedly has to offer. Looks fantastic for under 10k! Hindsight is 20/20

Playing Devils advocate here..........but.......
For several thousand dollars more I can get
A better handle. (Although I've had no problems with my stock handle, Wacky as it is.)
A decent/cool slo mo feature. (I do primarily production work so I'll use this how much more than the 60 fps when I need slomo?)
Gamma curves option.. (This is something I would like, but at what cost?)
4K downed to 1080 in cam (is my pretty fs100 image really so much worse?)
The promise of 4k out at some point in the future. (well, I'm still waiting for the promise of my fs100 update which keeps getting pushed back. Who's to say they won't CANCEL THAT if sales aren't good on the fs700?)

The math/cost here for what I shoot says.....Nice cam but I'll be riding the FS100 train for a while. (just gimme the darn fireware update Sony)

You forgot to add internal ND filters (which are worth quite a bit to me at least).
All in all this looks like a fantastic camera.

I'll be riding that train as well.

What irks me is I would have paid an extra several thousand dollars for: the ND filters, better slo mo and maybe that better handle.
I don't care about 4K at this time for my personal use.

I see they're sticking with that stupid tack-on viewfinder. Monitor can't even support the weight of it, it must be being held up with fishing wire for the product shots.
