fs 700 4k coming ?

I believe it's about 1 lb heavier, a little more than an inch longer, a little taller and wider. All around more rugged feel then FS100. Same Sony L series batteries. Higher ISO settings in the prototype camera. Image is gorgeous :)

I haven't done any comparisons with FS100.

The signals are processed at a much higher bit depth internally and truncated to 8 bits only at the output stages - post DSP. This is how nearly all professional cameras are made. If it processed in 8 bits, it would look like a truck ran over your cinematography.
 
For those holding up the recorder as the "gotcha", don't forget that there are some inexpensive SSD recorders.

The original Blackmagic Hyperdeck can be had for $175. The Atomos Ninja is around $1K and and the Samurai is only about $1600. Not sure if or when such inexpensive recorders could work with the FS700- but I doubt that by the time the 4K option in enabled there isn't already a good way to catch and work with the 4K RAW.

Sony is not known for putting out cameras without a working/tested workflow, and compatibility among popular NLE systems. I'm not worried.

First onlineshops in Germany are listing it for ~7200 € without lens, without VAT
 
Only thing to keep in mind is that it is 8 bit and no log options. So it is differentiated from the F3 but head and shoulders above the FS-100.
 
I don't think there is any test footage released, and certainly not any 4k footage which is what everyone is really interested in.

No beyer cmos is 4:4:4 natively. The RED is not, the Scarlet is not, the FS100 is not. Though when you scale 4k down to HD you can get 4:4:4 1080p.

guy above is correct. EPIC & Scarlet shoot 4:2:2 but at 16 bit, the only cameras to do that besides the F65. Sub-sampling IS important, but 4:2:2 IS a well suited match for 4k+. The amount of information there from a finishing/DI standpoint is staggering.
 
I'll tell you this. If the FS700 comes in around 9-10k I think I'd still rather have an F3 for my needs.

Yep- that's why Sony says F65 is 4K camera, even if it has 8K sensor.
To add to this- almost none of the prosumer HD cameras can resolve HD resolution.
Based on very simple "resizing test" I checked output from JVC 4K camera and it looks like "real" resolution is somewhere about 2.5K.
Lets wait for some footage from FS700, but I woudl say it will be something similar, which is a nice improvement over other/HD cameras.
