Fiction Fest - Viewing / Rating - Technical Issues Thread

I'm having trouble unzipping 'fiction0001.zip'. I've downloaded it twice now, but get a message 'The compress (zipped) folder is invalid or corrupted' when trying to 'unzip' it.

Thanks.

This has happened to me on each of them so far (1,2 and 3). I'm redownloading 3 for the third time. I finally got a good 1 and 2. Not sure why it's doing this, but I'm anticipating it for 4 as well.

Alright, I downloaded from the 'RamJet' mirror this time, and was able to unzip fiction0001.zip. So, it looks like the 'Day7' mirror might have a bad zipped file. Also, the file size of the zip downloaded from 'Day7' was smaller than indicated on the DVXUser download page.

Thanks!

I was able to download the zips from the day7studios server and unzip them without issue. I also compared them to the ones on the other mirror and they are identical. My guess is there is a server/network issue causing you to have problems downloading the full file from the day7 server, so I've taken it out of the mirror rotation for now, until I can resolve it. Hopefully they will continue to download from the other mirrors without issue.

What is happening guys is that the download is being stopped before the file can be completely downloaded. All my downloads so far have done that. I've got one now that seems to be holding, but is moving super slow, it says that it has a couple hours left to go. The slow down seems to be on the sending side. The speed fluctuates, but nothing I do on my end seems to effect it.

Yes that is the problem. As more people try to download the slower it will get too. I'm trying to bring more mirrors online as that will help

Yeah, yesterday almost nothing downloaded for me, today life is good as everything seems to be downloading fine.

Very frustrating to try and watch these. :( Basically everything that must be in zips 1 and 3 have given me problems. The flow player is S...L...O...W to load and the individual download works maybe 20% of the time, and for some movies, not at all. I don't understand why it's the same problems every fest? It's a complete turnoff for any first-time visitor. If I wasn't a die-hard I would've giving up long ago. Sorry for the frustrated rant. I know a lot of people work hard to make it the best it can be and I appreciate the effort.

I agree with it being a potential turn off (or a "poo poo off") to anything other than regular dvx'ers...and even so to many regulars I'm sure.

How about striking a deal with one of the "major" streaming video sites...or even one of the minors?
