Extreme Shipping!

Also, Barry. I'd be interested in whether you have photos of MacGregor's rig? Would be nice to see how people are using the LEX since there have been so few rig photos thus far.

I'm sure David has something, but it wasn't Mac's rig, it was my HVX with the prototype LEX on the front. Nothing special, just screwed straight into the lens threads...

I pm'd David - thanks!

Great film. Great Look. I'm not sure why anyone would whine about this adapter :)

Barry,i'm going to be perfectly honest.after seeing this footage and how artistcly it was shot, for a brief moment i thought about hanging up my camera.i now no i have a ton of work ahead of me.mcgreggor is one of the best cinematogrhers i've seen on this forum.

Wow. That was great!
Lighting, set design, acting, framing, story.... all VERY well done. Simply amazing.

YES! After an 'Extreme' amount of anticipation, my adapter finally arrived via Fedex! My official position was #4 at LetusDirect and I had ordered it on 9/24.

Quick observations:

1) Tight and well-packaged shipping
2) Etched logo is nice; more subtle than the printed one
3) Yes, it's rather heavy but nicely and sturdily built
4) Yes, the rubber caps can fall off quite easily
5) Magnetic battery cover holder works very well

That's it for now; will post pictures of my setup after I get everything put together tonight. Just need my external monitor and follow focus (arriving hopefully sometime in November) and the shooting rig will be complete.

Stay tuned for test footage; hopefully by the end of this week.

Cheers and patience out to those who still wait...

Barry Green, Thank you for that. I know alot of people put alot of hard work into that short film. And it shows.

Knowing this was shot with the pre-production model of the Letus Extreme only makes me even MORE happy with my purchase.
Any improvements in quality with the production versions are just gravy on the turkey at this point :D

dont know if this was asked already or not, but is there a higher rez version that will be available for download? Id love to see this at 720

I agree -- that's why we hired him for this production. We tried to put together the best of DVXUser here: the best cinematographer (Mac), the best director (Jack), the best camera (the HVX) and the best adapter (the Extreme). Very happy with how it turned out.

It was shot in 1080/24pA. Don't know if Jack'll be posting a higher-res version or not, but you'll definitely be seeing a lot more of this production and our other one (coming soon: The Unawakening).

Barry - NICE!

What lights did you use?

The only other thing I wanted to know is how you made the preg test go positive....just kidding.

No, seriously. How'dya do it?

We mainly used my CaseLites and B&M tungsten fresnels; most every shot was keyed with a caselite. The exterior shots through the fog were usually handled by a 575w HMI.

As for the pregnancy test -- we tossed around the idea of asking a pregnant friend to... well, water the stick, but Jack had a better (and far more tactful) solution -- a little wizardry in post!

Man. I finally got to come home and open the box.

This thing is built FORD TOUGH. Whoever said it was competing with stock lens wasn't joking. Footages very soon. Must figure out a thing or two.

Setup was easy, by the way. Just don't dump your box til you know you have ALL of the parts out of it.

Suhweeeeet.

Thanks for saying so! We're happy with how it turned out. Keep an eye out for our other pic, "The Unawakening" (but that wasn't shot with an adapter).

It's here! my adapter is finaly here.first off I'll start about by saying the letus company could have charged a whole lot more for this work of art than they did and told everyone to like it.but they built an adapter to me,that is 10 times that of there past ones, with a price and built in my opinion better then all their counter parts.thanks letus for having the poor indi guys in mind and not just being greedy.I inticipate this adapter becoming the indi standard very soon.Oh did i mention the image quality and detail is nonthing short freaky. Thanks again guys.Oh one more thing which is in my opinio the most important.I was able to get good a image in my apartment with only availabe light.

I am in the boat with Reem. This thing is utterly amazing. It feels VERY expensive, it LOOKS very expensive and the image I'm getting out of it is stellar.

I did the SAME thing that Reem did, walked around with a 50mm @ F4 and a 135mm at 2.8 in my apartment and I could get a usable (but perhaps not acceptable in cinematic terms) image.

I dunno if this is regularly standard with the adapters, however, I am able to pop and zoom from 27.3 feet and on to the end of the HVX lens without losing focus. I couldn't do that on my M2 at all. Again, dunno if it was just my adapter, but this one can do it and it's tight.

On bokeh halo: I found that I only see it when I use a lens wide open... closed down to 2.8 and on, it's not there. My Bokeh looks very similar to what I got on the M2. To add to that, indoors I could get to 5.6 on the lens before seeing the ground glass, so I suspect you may be able to reach an 8 outdoors or with plenty of light no problem. Anything below 5.6 is a cake walk. I do wish that I could get to nearly a closed lens just as well, for action work and such but there's always taking the adapter off and opening the iris wide for that stuff.

The best purchase I've made outside of the HVX itself.

I brought my cam to work, I'll have some macro footage, outdoors day and night at the baseball field and park. Will try to get up 720p versions tonight.
