D7100 available for preorder

I'm more interested in the d7100 for the better body, the Kelvin WB and the internal focus motor for the older tokina 28-70 f/2.6-2.8 I have

Hi Squig
Do you have both cameras?

No just the D5200 at this point. I have the same issues with the D5200. I'm not gonna run out and buy one just yet because I suspect it is the same sensor and even without the OLPF I'm not sure if it will have enough resolution for me. A Hyperdeck will give it a slight resolution boost. I'm considering a C100 as my A-cam and either a GH3 or D7100 for B-cam and 60p.

I watched in 1080p and I didn't see any serious Aliasing. I must say tho Squig I don't trust this guy. Didn't like his early stuff and don't like his just posting videos, with no explanations or any kind of conversation as you would expect from someone truly interested in testing cameras. I'd like to see this person give some actual evidence that they indeed have the camera and do a review even if it's only a short one. SOMETHING that would contribute to the conversation about the Nikon D7100. I just find it odd that this person keeps posting very short videos that could indeed be any camera and they never go in depth about likes or dislikes nor seek to give some kind of insight on this new camera. Comments are disabled and it's just an odd behavior.

I took the camera with me yesterday and I could dedicate very little time to filming, I had neither a tripod nor a shoulder rig. Tomorrow I'll try and do something better using Nikon ais lenses. The last shots were taken at ISO 1250 and NOT at ISO 4000 as wrongly indicated.

Looks like the same sensor to me. No aliasing or moire, same rolling shutter and FPN. Was that with 0 sharpness?

No, sharpness was set at 1, I am now going to test Neutral 0 sharpness

I found 0 or 1 to be the best settings on the D5200 with a bit of post sharpening. Anything over 1 looked unnatural (subtle halos) with a 105mm f/2.5 ai which is a very sharp lens.

Today I am going to film with a 28mm f2.0 ais, a 50mm f1.2 ai and an 85mm f1.4 ais. The 28 and the 85 are very sharp, I believe the 85 is the sharpest lens I own. I think you posted some tests of noise with the lens cap on, what are the cleanest ISO settings for the D5200?

I've been shooting with the saturation dialled down -2 on standard with contrast all the way down, or neutral with contrast set to 0. These settings give me a good flat gradable image like prolost on the 5D.

* thanks!
* the sky and the sea look really great, the blues are coming out beautiful; not sure about skin tones, though: they don't look bad, but not particularly nice either, I'd like to compare neutral vs portrait
* the initial blown-out wall is a pain to watch; but it could be A LOT worse
* sharp at low ISO, not so much at high ISO (might this be the wide-open lens?)

First shot, building on the left, with the vertical stripes.
That's a VERY difficult shot, though: anything that doesn't show these issues there will probably just soften that out into oblivion.

So what are you current owners of the D7100 thinking of the contrast detect focus tracking/face detection? can the user just touch the screen and have the D7100 focus on the subject?

Anyone tried the 1.3 cropmode in video yet? What does the 50/60i actually mean? Feels kind of silly would it just be regular interlaced footage.
