maybe we should start the D400 manual controls petition now
We're not in politics. I think Nikon already heard us and if not, the ongoing D90 petition will change that. To start another petition for a non-existing product is just absurd!

maybe we should start the D400 manual controls petition now
“As BJP went to press, Nikon unveiled two new digital SLRs - one entry level and another semi-pro - as well as new lenses. Both new DSLRs come with a high-definition video mode, with the entry-level model, the D5000, also offering a swivel LCD screen - a first for a Nikon camera.”
we dont have to buy that toy.

Is this a clue that the next Nikon semi-pro model (D400?) will have HD video?

I think a D90 is a great tool for making your film I think it has to mainly be on a tripod and use cuts to creatively suggest movement. Overheating shouldn't be an issue for filmakers. Any movie if you watch it rarely has a shot more than 5 seconds. Thats why movies take so long and are boring for the actors. Often only one camera is used. Most indie flicks I see make this mistake and have these huge badly scripted monologues, its boring for the viewer.
Anyways.......
My main concern is the Jello on the D90. Does anyone know why the new D5000 hasn't improved on the Jello. And why the 5D has improved quite a bit on it. My point is can we even expect a new D400 etc to have less Jello and still have 24p, would it need a whole new global shutter etc?
Do you have a picture of your setup or a description? Thanks, just got my D90 yesterday and experimenting.
I don't have a picture, but the website where I ordered my stuff was--
http://www.indifocus.com/
The owner, Tim, is very reachable by phone, and has been very helpful throughout in helping me order and then set-up my system. He owns the Canon 5D MkII, so he is used to the dSLR issues.
I have 18" rods, the shoulder mount and handles, a mattebox, and follow-focus from them.
How is the follow focus working for you, any play in it?
There is very little play--but I just received the stuff from inidSystems so I am just starting to use it. I have no experience with the expensive FF units to compare with--so what I consider very little play may be a lot compared to a $2,000 unit. I am making a transition from the 3-chip HDV world to a 35mm mindset, with shallow DOF/matte boxes/ and follow-focus units.
Tim @ inidSytems has been incredible for support. I was having an issue with my tripod plate mounting (I have one of the large Manfrotto heads with a huge plate). He is going to custom machine a part for me to fix the problem--at no charge. That sort of personal customer support is almost unheard of--Nikon could learn a thing or two!
