why is it that i'm still interested in the GH1? Is it that I think nikon d400 will inherit all the flaws the d90 has but in 1080p? maybe, but i'm still looking forward to the gh1.

look at it this way between the GH1, the D400, and the 500D somebody is bound to get it right this northern summer. hollywood be damned!

the d400 is still a rumor at this point. half the stuff, actually almost 95% of all the stuff on nikon rumors is a fake, until nikon themselves release an actual statement about what the d400 is capable of doing, i don't believe a word that website has to offer. it's a great way to increase traffic for their sponsors.

You said it!
I've been a filmmaker for a while and I currently slave for meals as a vfx artist, and these sorts of cameras (Hoping they deliver the resolution) really give the independent the freedom to create without significant limitations on quality. I shot a recent PSA with my D90 and the experience was so much more fun than when I've had to run around with a heavy Aaton or Sony on my shoulder. I can only imagine the possibilities when adding one of these new cameras into the production pipeline.

I don't pay attention to certain websites either, but I'm still excited by the confirmed news that I've read from reputable sources concerning other manufacturers that are now in the HD DSLR game. If Nikon doesn't want to offer all the bells and whistles that many of us are demanding, oh well, then it will be there loss, because companies like Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and possibly even low level players like Casio will step up their game to grab a piece of this very hot market.

I would love to jump ship if Nikon does not deliver, however, when you have invested a few thousand $$$$ in Nikkor glass it kind of chains you to that brand.

In which case we can choose between Nikon or Fuji bodies :)

Summer, Fall is fine with me! Maybe they'll come out with the perfect DSLR movie camera by the time I can really afford it. Good things come to those who.... have a lot of taxes to pay :).

you can get adapters to use nikon glass on canon and the panny 4/3 but not the other way around so nikon glass is a good investment. I have about 7 nikon primes.....I've lost count.

I could use a good vfx slave on my next film, got a reel?

nikon rumours is a bullsh*t factory; if i knew where their server was i'd put good use to my milan.

More than a Rumour

More than a Rumour

The D400 is a definite I believe. I dont have the link but the author of the manual for the D400 which was spotted on maybe Amazon(german) if I am not mistaken has confirmed its coming. He can't disclose any information for his contract. I was wondering about the RED scarlet but if the D400 has the film look of the D90, they improve on the Jello, then i'm a buyer. Manual controls more than the d90 would also of course be great but what I really want is a half decent non auto gain external mic input, because I want to use it for documentary work.

24/25fps, 1080p and better codec are the most important issues for me. Anything coming out from Nikon/Canon/Panasonic etc this year will for sure be far better than the D90 already is. Interesting times ahead of us indeed!
