under 50hz lights? sorry but that's physically impossible. you must be mistaken or there's something wrong with your camera, or maybe it's simply not exactly 1/50, just as 24 is really 23.976? i mostly shoot film in 24 fps but also the d90. i've hardly ever shot 24p "video".Matt, what format are you shooting? I get rolling "scanline waves" when shooting 24p at 1/50 using my EX1 (CMOS)
If I could get video like Ami Vitale you guys can wait on the 7D.

That is not the "jello" we have come to dislike so much on the D90. That is the usual rolling shutter effect of the cmos sensor on movie mode. [...] If people don't even know the real facts how can they become "experts" on a subject matter. Experience the camera firsthand then you'll be able to make at least a knowledgeable contribution.
The same happens on the Red One if you jerk the cam around sideways like that. The "jello" effect happens when you tilt the camera top back and forth even so slightly creating an image that looks like is underwater.

"nuff said".................... that's one of the silliest pieces of a crap demo I've ever seen.rogar-Mark-07(DBG)
You are missing the point here [...]: The guy jerking the camera does not try to tell us a lot about the camera. He is jerking the camera to see how bad the jello is. No more, no less.
i never understood why people feel the need to make comparisons between what pros can do with one camera and an amateur with another, then jump to the conclusion that the "tool" is "just" that. wouldn't it be more interesting to compare that same amateur shooting with one lousy and one great camera, which will produce better pictures? if the great camera fails in that test then i will dismiss it as tool no problem. the way i see the "tool" thing is that there's always a better camera for the task at hand, one is smaller, one is sharper, one has higher iso, one takes cool gritty or soft pictures, one shoots high frame rates, and so on. it does not mean that the camera doesn't matter.
My old D70s is doing weird stuff. If the photography end of the D300s turns out pretty good I'll buy it for that alone. This camera will sell like crazy just from the photo people. I think the video will be ok to0. I don't swing my video cameras around anyway. The auto focus at the end of this video seems to work.

I tried the D300s in Photografica (Copenhagen, Denmark) last monday. And I honestly didn't se much improvement. But what I did see in the files I brought home was that they seem a bit sharper, and yes the jello is mildly improved.
I'm gettin' the D300s but not so much for the video upgrade (already got the D90) but more for the stills upgrade, and upgrade in build. I hate using that toy-like D90.
Zim, swithching from a D70 to a D300s will make you VERY happy. They are lightyears apart. I shoot a D3 and a D300s and love both. The D300s seems to have improved on most of the things I was hoping they would improve on the D300 (though the D300 is still GREAT).
If you want to shoot video's like Ami, then it's a no brainer. You certainly can shoot videos like that with the D300s. Heck, you can shoot video like that with the D90.
If you want a camera for the stills part alone, I would go with the D700 over the D300s.
