Convergent Design Ships Odyssey7, New Firmware for Odyssey7 & Odyssey7Q on Monday

I bought my Odyssey7Q from Terry (post above). Great guy, fast shipping, easy to work with. He helped me get my 7Q long before some other bigger shops were able to fulfill their orders.

Just been testing the 120fps mode.... Buzzing!

What I love, absolutely love, and missed about the other HFR modes is being able to use the end trigger. I can't wait until we get some more lightning storms this week. Wait for the lightning to strike, hit record, 120fps 4K lightning shots, guaranteed!

Same here. I burnt through footage on a trip I had because we were in unpredictable situations (dolphins, birds, etc) and I didn't want to miss a shot at 240fps! It was a blessing and a curse to have continuous 240fps. I know it's impossible but a perfect world would be a short buffer (4 sec or so) that could roll straight into an extended clip. Similar to how many audio recorders work.

So Mitch - I know you wont give exact dates re firmware updates (good thing!) but how much work is left to get the compressed 4K done? Are we talking many months still? I was kind of surprised at one of your other estimates for a feature where you quoted a year of development work (can't remember what feature that was now) - it seemed a rather long time. Of course, that could have been one engineer working on it in breaks of course! ;)

An idea of what work is still required would be interesting.

Thanks.

Hey, not sure if this has been mentioned... or its just something on my end... but I now have a purple cast on my footage, following the new update. Nothing on the camera was changed, and I don't see what values could be different on the new firmware.

Here's a screen shot of the raw dng. White balance was correct on set. Nothing on my computer has changed either.

While shooting I noticed it too, and couldn't figure out how to get rid of it. I thought it was maybe the LUT that was changed from before.

I don't recall what the year of dev. was referring to (I do recall saying it -- busy past few days!). Certainly it isn't the status of the compressed 4K. I'm sorry to say that I really can't go further into detail then that. This gets into the inner workings of our company and we do have competitors. As I have noted previously, this is a major priority for us.

May I suggest you contact our Support Desk on this. We'd probably want you to send in a frame of the RAW file. Then we can determine what's happening here.
