C200: CFast compatability - Cards that support VPG-130

They are VPG 130 rated, advertised at 550MB/s read and 450MB/s write speeds. How would I get a full refund then?

Safe harbor is in Wilwaukee and I got them mail-order. Any advise? The company really is hiding behind their walled policy and refuse to even work with me. I have to leave the country in few days for a year, and leaving my city tomorrow.

Sorry to say you might lose less on this if you sold them yourself to a Blackmagic or C300 II owner.

I would ask to talk to a manager, rather than customer service, at Safe Harbor and demand a full refund due to cards' failure to work as advertised. The restocking fees don't apply to the defenctive merchandise or it's fraud on their part. If that doesn't work - and it may not in the short run - try getting them in touch with the Angelbird service. If you leave on a long trip, you should still keep in contact with them via email and/or telephone or have someone who can do it on your behalf.

By the letter of the law, the retailer really has no leg to stand on ... but that doesn't stop everyone. I assume, they're afraid that someone "rented the cards" from them - used them for an event and now is demanding a full refund. You may have to make a video as your proof and tell them that you will send it around and/or post it on YouTube (this one is the last resort).

Has anyone tried the 256 Egodisk cards? I was thinking of ordering one for my 1DX II, but to hold on to if I move on to the C200.

About the angelbird cards, i have to say they are a real proactive company.
I've contacted them about the issues with the c200 and gave them the link to this thread.
They contacted ashayafilms about his issues and are working on it.

They were willing to send me a varied collection of their cfast cards to do some testing on my c200 and help them to fix any incompatibilities with the c200.
at the same time they will be working with their reference c200 on this issue.

I'll keep you all updated on my testing results.

add me to the list. just filled my 256 EgoDisk card with a 30 minute 59.97 raw take and had no issues. Everything working smoothly

Just got an egodisk 256 GB card and used it with my C300 mk2 . Filled the card with 4k , no issues and then shot some long continuous takes in 1080 , again no issues.

I did have an buffer overflow error the other day with one of my lexar cards, first time in 2 years. I do wish that canon would put out a file repair utility so save clips when that happens . I managed to salvage the affected clipand the salvage effort took some work. A dedicated repair utility from Canon would be great.

(Spoiler: talking SD CARDS)
Witch Lexar? I spent 800€ to recover contents from a Lexar SD.
Many "buffer overflow" errors before losing the card..
I'll never use one slot at a time anymore

Lexar 3500 128 gig . I’ve had these cards for almost 2 years and this was the first buffer overflow error. I have a copy of PrimeTime Transcoder from Imagine products . Prime time recognized the corrupted file and spit me out a full size pro res except for the final few seconds which was corrupted .... I’m concerned about this happening again especially since it happens without warning.

At the time I was 92 gigs into the 128 GB card recording 4K....

You might want to have a look at the media with something like CrystalDiskInfo. I use version 4.2.0 myself since I think the newer versions I think have more adware.
We had a bunch of Dell laptops at work that the Liteon SSDs were going bad. We caught most of them before they completely failed. CFast is basically the same technology as SSD. I just ran it on my VPG 130 Sandisk card and it came up clean.
You could use another tool. CrystalDiskInfo is just the one I use.

Are the Lexar 3500 cards rated VPG-130?

I don’t think they are VPG-130 but they are ok for C300Mk2 use . I have used them since I have had the camera (2 years almost) and this is the first hiccup. Have shot lots of 4k and everything in between ....

As I stated this recent event was the first hiccup I’ve had with my C300.

Got it, thanks for the heads up. FWIW, I have not yet tried my EgoDisk VPG-130 cards in the C300 MKII. Every time we have rented them, we have rented their own cards because we never have the time to do these kinds of compatibility tests.

The Lexar 3500x are vpg-130. Check the OP:

Lexar - YES - Confirmed support on the 3500x cards, but strangely not the presumably faster 3600x cards are VPG-130. I contacted them directly, and the tech I spoke to was confident the 3600x cards would work, but would not guarantee it when pressed. He/she also noted that only the 3500x cards are on Canon UK's approved card list. LINK: http://www.lexar.com/products/memory-cards/cfast/Lexar-Professional-3500x-CFast-2-card.html

I had the buffer overflow issue on a couple shoots and found a solution to the issue on Canon's page of approved cards.

On that page...

"IMPORTANT
Proper operation cannot be guaranteed for all recording media.
In some cases, it may take longer to write data on the CFast card and recording may stop. To avoid this, we recommend that users regularly fully format and refresh their card using the "CFast Full Format and Refresh Tool" available from the link below.
SanDisk : http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/17370
Lexar : http://www.lexar.com/support/downloads
If the card is inserted into a camera with a different firmware version, a message recommending to initialize the card may be displayed. In such case, back up the clips recorded on the card and then initialize it with the camera."

I now often use the "CFast Full Format and Refresh Tool" and have not had issues since. I use Lexar 256 GB 3500x cards, though it says Sandisk should run through the Sandisk tool as well.
