To me, anything that Canon brings up with the same aliasing/moire issues of its old generation is absolutely irrelevant... We need to see if this camera has any improvements in this area, but looking at the T4i I'd guess it's another big miss.

Agreed. It's well past time for Canon to make a stronger effort on the video side of their DSLRs.
first i've got to say...i've got some canon L glass i'd love to use on a mirrorless...but this ain't it !
Don't get me wrong. I'd like to see improvements too, but seriously, they totally DOMINATE the market. They must be doing something right.
It makes zero sense to use EF mount for a mirrorless camera.
Makes sense if you have EF lenses.
Not really. They will be much more balanced on a larger (SLR or videocam) body. Mating a 1kg L lens with a 200g body is an abomination.
Besides, you don't target a small camera towards owners of large lenses. You target it towards people who want small systems (body + lens).
Also, a mirrorless with an EF mount needs to be at least 5 cm thick to accommodate the EF mount flange distance. Kinda beats the purpose.
What?
So I guess putting an Optimo 24-290 on an Epic would be an abomination as well?
Samuel H said:On the FS100 and AF100, I don't see a lot of advantage from having a mirrorless mount with short focal flange distance, apart from the fact that you can adapt a lot more lenses. Add 25mm of mount in front of them, and they stay basically the same. OTOH, with the BMC this would be totally different (plus you really need the short focal flange to be able to adapt lenses designed for its smaller sensor). Same for a stills camera: I've had the Pentax K-01 in my hands, and it feels like a huge monster compared to the 5N, which has very similar internals but uses a short-focal-flange mount.
