General Canon mirrorless...the doors are now open

Business wise Sony has done great with their NEX cameras, and since they are not huge lenses manufacturers like Canon they shouldn´t have the same worries that Canon has. At Photokina Sony will be releasing a 35mm 1.8 pancake and a 16-50mm collapsible zoom (there is talk of constant f2.8, but I doubt it). Canon on the other side has a lot to loose if they start making a bunch of lenses for a new system. It´s much more comfortable for them to simply throw in an adapter and let people spend money on the lenses they already have.

I´m very curious about this little camera. It would´ve been cool if Canon had slapped a collapsible LCD screen on it...I love that on the NEX system.

I'm sorry, but there's absolutely no logic to your statement.

1. Record times are way up = improvement
2. Digic 5 processor = improvement
3. About 1/3rd the size of previous canon cams used for video = improvement
4. Autofocus while shooting video = improvement

And 5, we don't know yet how much an improvement over image quality, rolling shutter, and moire we're looking at, but I'll bet there's at least incremental improvements.

Dude...those are just limits Canon never cared to improve. Now they added those *stupid* features and this is a revolution? Look the new shiny 650d that has the new amazing DIGIC5. The video quality is the same crap as when the first video DSLRs where introduced. No improvements at all. So the only doors that got opened are for photographers and size. Nothing else. Samuel H is right. So please ... it's using "doors are now open" in a video forum that has no logic not my statement

I must admit that I would love to have the autofocus in the video as an option for some rare situations to fall back on. However, it may be half a decade - at the present pace of technology introductions - before auto focus in video can improve to such an extent that it is usable in DSLR cameras. I guess I need to ask Canon for a sample of this mirrorless camera to test.
