Canon "Goes To The Movies"

It's nonetheless careful not to lean towards a specific category of product and says it simply touches on "consumer imaging," not necessarily camcorders.

Consumer imaging...wonder if that is noticeably different from "professional imaging".

FMMMMMLLLLLL are you serious? I JUST dropped a ton of money on my 7d this week. If it's better/cheaper than 7D I will be SO UPSET!

My initial random thought was that Canon is going to jump out there and deliver something that delivers 1080p+, as in, full 2K or maybe a little bit higher.

The full 2K thing seems plausible given the whole movie theme. The "consumer imaging" thing makes me think it'll be a DSLR. The timing? Perfect. Start the ball rolling on creating buzz that Canon is "ahead of the game" in "beyond 1080p" imaging device...

I'd bet on a cinema projector. Nothing about the announcement implies anything about cameras, and in fact it shows chairs for people to be sitting in.

Maybe it's a DCI-compliant projector.

That's my number one as well. I don't expect another camera announcement until NAB at the earliest. Would I be happily surprised if otherwise?

... As long as they fixed moire and aliasing... Oooooooooo diss.
