Canon "Goes To The Movies"

Yeah I know that it is in fact a Rumor site by how many time are rumors based around factual events? hey by the way kholi have you guys gotten you MX R1 back yet Would love to see that side by side footage of the R1 and 7D we talked about...

Kinda how Nostradamus predicted the 9/11 attacks.

Sometimes things line up just right and become truth, others are dismissed and never thought about again.

Not back yet, sadly~! Few days delay, makes me frown.

I'm going to guess it isn't a product announcement at all, but simply a showcase of works shot on Canon DSLRs (Maybe by BAFTA member Directors and DPs?)

So while I would love for Canon to announce a video-centric camera with a big sensor, I'm just not going to get my hopes up.

Hmmmm....that thought never occurred to me. But now that you mention it.....

Yep, I think sbl could be right on target.

However, if that's the case, then it would seem simply foolish of them to not simultaneously announce the availability of the 5D 24p update.

I don't think they'd have an event just to show stuff off that has been shot. I think they are announcing something. If not the availability of the 5D firmware, I'm gonna put all my chips in on a beyond 1080p DSLR.

Booyah!

This went from a random guessing game to a Voldemort smart phone tech discussion?

:violent5:

The reviewing of footage by BAFTA folks is starting to seem more plausible. I have no idea how reliable canonrumors is. If somewhat, and there will be cameras there, I can see it being something about video being added to yet another DSLR in their lineup. It does seem odd for Canon to be the real trail blazer, but they are holding the baton right now.

I bet Bloom knows

I hope it's 24p. I'm really not looking forward to tying up my mac for a week doing an optical flow conversion on my recently shot betrayal fest entry.

I was going to fork out for a 1DMKIV but I think there's going to be some amazing digital film cameras coming out this year so I'm going to stick with the MKII until something with no aliasing and a robust 4:2:2 codec comes out.

Yeah, but my thought is even if they do come out with a cam that fixes those issues someone will find and exploit whatever weakness it has which in turn would give us all something else to complain about. It's like a never ending story. I say love what you got and try to make as many pretty pictures with it as you can. Remember when the Red was the "end-all-B-all?" But even that camera has its issues. Give the new M-X sensor a chance...someone is bound to find something wrong...then it's right back to the never ending complaints.
