The internal SSD's was something I had advocated over here about a year ago.
Toshiba just came out with their 64 layer "gum stick" models in 256, 512 and 1024. And a day later, WD and SanDisk announced competitive "mainstream" products too.

As the quality-for-price ratios plummet, the ability to squeeze extra profits from the accessory sales goes down as well. It's one thing to sell $1,500 cards for a $45,000 pro camera; it's the other to sell $3,500 worth of cards for a $7,500 one. Having said that, I think it's more likely that the higher priced models will incorporate some internal memory like that 64-layer Toshiba for, at least, a backup to the removable media.Isn't going to matter to Panasonic, Sony and RED, the proprietary memory formats are cash cows for them...
I've seen a Lexar 512GB 3500x, but the Sandisk one seems not to be manufactured. People advices about Sandisk, because they say it's better. How is the Lexar?256 GB CFast 2.0 card can be unloaded and content verified (even against camera sensor faults) under 10 minutes.
This is an M.2 SSD
I don't thing this is the best format for cameras. I'd rather have just 2.5" SATA SSD drives.

I would be more paranoid about ~$30,000 17-120 on the gliding boat in rough sea.
Look at 'From Dock to Dish' BTS video and count the cost of equipment they used, price of the camera bodies is among the cheapest items.
Also, I could make-up the story that I wouldn't buy C200 because then (for my application) I would need $15,000 Neumann Solution-D Stereo system to use AES/EBU audio inputs.
Fear psychology never works.
Remember the times when 1 GB CF card costed a fortune and the arrival of 16 GB CF cards which could be bought for peanuts?
Until the price of media doesn't get reasonable, don't use wrong methods to get the job done.
256 GB CFast 2.0 card can be unloaded and content verified (even against camera sensor faults) under 10 minutes.
And then the content is ready for review, if desired, to create custom LUTs for looks and apply them when transcoding it to any desired format.
The camera will record a proxy file to SDXC though, and I believe it will do so in 2K Prores, but I can't recall.
How do people record the screen with overlays like this? It looks too precise to have been shot with a cell phone?
There's a setting in the wrench menu custom function called Character Record
Thanks Darren, very cool, I never knew that.
