Break-in...

Sorry to hear about the theft, Jim. At least they only got the prototype of a rapidly changing product.

Whether or not the thief gets caught, I hope you can at least get some good publicity out of this.

If the thief has any brains at all, he should just turn himself in and collect the $100k reward. He can use that money to buy 5 fully functional Red cameras in a few months!

(Sorry, couldn't help but think that :) ).

Wow! Now things are serious. I hate to say it, but my bet is on an inside job, since Jim's company is so huge, they would have to have inside info on where to find RED. I dont think, they have signs hanging around their huge building.

I would be checking employee's e-mail, phone calls, etc... it's surprising how stupid criminals can be... not to mention any company that buys their info, and brakes Red's patents, will get be open to huge law suits.

I would be more angry than worried... this snake will be found within weeks is my bet. And I doubt it is a major company directly but rather a needy individual. Your competitors are the ones who will probably turn them over.

As when Red is released it will be bought and broken apart by its competition like every Honda Accord is by GM and Ford every year.... too bad they can't copy it and make money to stay in business... (that's sorta a joke - I wish they would make great products on their own instead!)

What's really pissing me off are the reactions over at Cinematography.com.. A lot of those guys are really jerks. They are talking smack hinting that RED STAGED this in order to get out of producing the camera.

I hate the internet sometimes cause I can't reach though my service provider grab these bozos and pound their balls flat with a wooden mallet.

The address was linked to earlier in this thread. It's publicly available.

Time to make best of the situation with a little humour..

One problem whith that idea vegan - Jim's got more publicity that he needs. He's ahead of schedule on what he's promised and He's a billionaire who could care less about making money by scamming $1K out of several hundred people. With regards to investors... he's funding it himself. I'm thinking you need to replace the battery in your bullshit detector.

Another possibility worth considering and one that I'm amazed hasn't been mentioned yet, is that this is a hoax created by Red itself to stir up attention on many websites and increase chatter about the company. It could also provide a cover for technological set-backs they could be experiencing and would keep investors from losing faith in the product or tech team because delays could be seen as not their fault. I realize that many people are excited by this concept and want to support it as an innovative underdog, kinda like that Coppola movie, "Tucker", but, honestly, my bullshit detector is screaming louder than a smoke alarm right now. When the smoke clears, Red may be more well known for marketing innovation than for technical innovation. Peace.

You think RED needs to do this... Are you crazy.... They are making a 4K digital camera that cost $20,000 that is more then enough to get allot of peoples atention. AND JIM AND THE TEAM ARE NOT THOSE KIND OF PEOPLE.
And there are no Stock holders to keep happy. Everyone that is a reservation holder already belives in the camera you are not going to get more people just beacuse you fake a theft.. Man I think you have some serious trust issues.

This isnt a hoax.. I personally was at Red today and experienced the entire ordeal.. police and all. Jim said it wouldnt set them back at all, and I believe him.

Are you kidding me? Maybe you should come down from Portland and help us clean up the glass. Asshole.

Jim

Jim, i think if all of us RED followers were in the area you'd have an entire cleaning squad at your disposal. Aside from that guy obviously.

Vegan, you probably dont know the history behind red and the calibre of the people envolved in this project so you may be forgiven for thinking so.

But yeah, what CVB said. Batteries need replacing on the BS detector.

"Ok, ok. First things first. Where were the dames with the cigars when all this happened ? And is that a chili fry near that chair ? It could be a clue."

Sumbiaatches can't stop progress, Jim.

RED # rebel with a clue

When I first read the headline, I was hoping it was a joke. I knew imediately it wasn't. I feel violated. I can make some free time if you would like some volunteers to help clean- glass or whatever is needed.

Well, Im sorry if you guys wouldnt even consider an inside job. It makes so much more sense than industrial espionage. Have any of you considered why Jim would release this information publically instead of just keeping it under wraps and not panic his customers? If I were in his shoes, and it wouldnt set me back, I wouldnt mention it to you so I wouldnt make you upset. Many companies wouldnt tell you.

You can call me whatever you want, but me and some buddies at Cinematography.com do indeed feel that there is something fishy going on with this.

OK, reality check to all you idiots out there. You don't even have to know Jim to understand that this WOULD NOT be a hoax.

The man is a Billionaire (that is with a capital B) and has gotten there without having to resort to stupid schemes or smoke and mirrors. Why the hell would he start with RED?

Wake the **** up.

PS-that's Billionaire with a capital B

EDIT: hey, no more poo poo's when I curse.
