Well, then I expect to see your full review of "Transylmania" in the thread shortly.![]()
I'm just basing that opinion off the trailer. At least it has something resembling production value.

Geez, ths movie must have had a $75M Monday (worldwide), it's now at $726M worldwide. http://boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id=avatar.htm
Why wouldn't you? Real Sigourney Weaver was hawt back in the day. I imagine her avatar would be pretty smokin'.
Sigourney Weaver is still hot. Smoking hot. My original celebrity crush... until Demi came along, so she has a special place in my temple of hotness.
I want to see it in IMAX today. But What's the deal with those IMAX theaters they put into regular theaters? do they have the giant screens like the science centers?
I saw it at a Cinemark IMAX that was like that. Main theatre, and around the corner down a hall was the IMAX screen with another concession. It was a big screen. Instead of previews and commercials before the movie, we got a 30 second introduction via microphone where they mentioned that the screen was 5 stories tall and 7 wide.

It's been a long time since I've been in a IMAX before the 2 times I went to this one recently. (Christmas Carol with the 3.5 year old the other time as a test of the place for avatar)
The screen certainly seems the proper size... The actual potential issue is that some of the films they show there don't always seem to be projected at "IMAX spec" if you will... Where it is sometimes cropped on all ends.
Anyways, the screen here certainly looks to size. But, what you say is lame. IMAX should be a specification, not a specification OR a "pay us enough for branding and you can call it IMAX. In my opinion anyways... Should have to meet certain specs... IMAX can be a great experience with the right film.
I was late the first time and with my daughter, but it seems like the issue with the one here is that what while the screen is perhaps to spec, what is projected is not always.

Finally saw Avatar this morning here in Austin. My review is so long I posted it to my blog rather than splitting it up here. Feel free to take a look…

My take? I don't think I've ever seen anything like it. Truly a spectacle on the big screen, and in 3-D (which I'm not usually a big fan of). But I left thinking how much better it could have been, if only there had been as much "life" in the story, characters and dialogue as there was in the actual world of Pandora itself.
A must-see, for sure.
That's almost as good as "Dances With Wolves... In SPAAAACE!"Finally saw Avatar this morning here in Austin. My review is so long I posted it to my blog rather than splitting it up here. Feel free to take a look…
