Avatar - James Cameron Returns! (Spoilers in thread, obviously!)

dang. made another 19.4 million yesterday (Monday)... which is 3 million more than it made the previous Monday. Looks like it may be here for the long haul.

Later,

The polls keep climbing, the first one had 32% of the viewers say they will see it again, up to 36% now, this is worldwide not just in the US.

The poll was for the 3D version, I'm sure it would be at 80%+ if they polled the 2D version.

I'm curious to hear the numbers for people that will see it more than 3 times. I think I saw Star Wars when I was a kids 4 or 5 times (at the theater then countless times on dvd, tv etc).

Can you imagine the revenue this is going to make from worldwide tv/cable rights in the future, think Titanic x 3 for tv/cable revenue.

What took Titanic 5 weeks took Avatar 2 weeks to get to the same domestic B.O. gross. Yes, the $15 ticket price does help, I have heard as high as $20 for IMAX 3D in a few cities.

Just saw it at the theater here and it was incredible!!! Totally lived up to the hype. I actually felt guilty only paying $2 for the tickets. But $2 is much more than I make per hour so I guess that means Cameron owes me an autograph. lol

You could tell by the plants and animal designs that James Cameron was heavily influenced by the deep sea diving he's been doing this last decade. Very cool stuff.

I think the point is not to confuse box office take with, well…"greatness."

The top selling album of the last decade was N'Sync's "No Strings Attached." Does that make it the best album?

I said the word of mouth was great. That is all. It obviously bothers some people that this film is so popular with the general public, but it is.

Yeah, it's pretty hilarious to read comments from the "I refuse to see this film as a protest" crowd, as if not spending their $10 is going to make any difference. It's also entertaining to see the Cameron devotees come out in force to defend their champion.

In the end, it's just a movie.

While I'm aware of the film's shortcomings, I'm not offended a lot of people love this movie. I would rather it be something like Avatar getting all this attention than Paul Blart: Mall Cop or Van Helsing.

Yeah, well, I've had to edit things that make Transylmania look like Citizen Kane by comparison.

Well, then I expect to see your full review of "Transylmania" in the thread shortly. ;)

And back on topic…

How do people feel about Sam Worthington's performance?

other than his AUSAMERICAN accent being all over the place, I thought he was great. For some odd reason though I found Avatar Siqourney weaver to be hot.:Drogar-BlackEye(DBG
