Atomos Ninja petition

And 1080 60p.
Thats a really big one.
I already sent them an email about it. Everyone on this board should do likewise; if we all send emails for these two features then it might really have an effect.

The Ninja will have line-in audio mini-jacks, in addition to recording audio via HDMI:

In many situations, the mini-jacks will be fine for recording audio, but XLR connections (such as will be available on the AJA KiPro Mini) are mechanically more reliable. The KiPro Mini's XLR inputs are also balanced-type inputs, making them more resistant to ground-loop hum noise compared to unbalanced line-level inputs.

Sure, Atomos might choose to add XLR inputs to the Ninja, but doing so would probably make the device larger, heavier & possibly more expensive.

... like a KiPro Mini, but with a built-in LCD monitor. :-)

Okay, we don't need nothing else more expensive, heavier, larger etc. Only a second solution for audio, not only HDMI embedded. Also because the manufacturers can not supply it with the cameras! I don't even understand their english probably written by a chinese. But if they give a second option, we are just fine.

The Ninja _does_ offer "a second option". It has audio line-in mini-jack connectors already.

Yes, they are. Nonetheless, I remember the answer of a teacher (sound department) of mine @ film school on the subject (professional DAT with balanced-type inputs vs. consumer Mini-Disk with unbalanced ones to be used in a shooting instead of the first option): «get a XLR/unbalanced-type input adapter as close as possible of the recording device and you cannot be wrong» :-)

1080 60p/50p is a must, if they not release it now I hope that they will do it with a firmware update.

only, when we will know is the GH2 hdmi usable????

amazing huh? there must be around 100 people in the world with the camera and none of them have any access to some kind of an HD recorder.. (including me!)

Bloom has one, but he is silent like a mouse.

tell you the truth, i think it's wayyyyy too much wishful thinking...
no way we could get higher res through this combo.. with the AF100 also providing an 8-bit output..
i mean.. c'mon! they wouldn't let this slip through.

why not? like Barry said: every cheap consumer camcorder has full HDMI output, why not the DSLR cameras?

Isn't he Panasonic advisor? He should know what he's talking about. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense.

so maybe i don't get it something - but logically- what's the advantage of the 5k AF100 SDI- output if you can get higher res through this "crappy" consumer stills cam ?

Something that would be essential to me to buy such a great device is 4 channels audio input. 2 with phantom power. I have a stereo mic plus two other inputs like lavaliers. This is a must to work professionally and not have all kind of boxes dangling around, like separate audio recorder, mixers and so on. Could be mini XLR or XLR or even a 5-pin-XLR for stereo - plus jack or rca or whatever. Don't care as long it is there.
