I need some vimeo/youtube help

This may be in the wrong place, but here goes. I have been using Vimeo and YouTube to broadcast some videos and they look terrible. I watch other peoples from on here and so forth, and most of them look awesome. I guess I am not exporting them correctly or something. Please teach me how to have a video look nice on the net. I shoot with a DVX100A and edit on FCE 3.5. I have tried shooting in 60i, 30p and 24p, they all look the same. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

fwiw: i save 'em as quicktimes & upload... i downsize my orig. files to 640x480/vga using H.264

why would you downsize? vimeo is capable of hostin hd files so just uprezz your footage from 480p to 720p. they come out beautiful i do it all the time. when you export your final footage (dvx100 720x480) export it out to 1280x720 hd file in quicktime
