AF100 LCD screen

Anyone with their cameras finding that their 3200 k preset is quite green on the LCD screen? I'm noticing quite a green cast on everything through the LCD with tungsten light. Going to run more tests..

Having a hard time in general trying to nail down a perfect white balance. Always seems to be some sort of color cast.. hmmm

As I can see I'm not the only one. Read this thread, I have posted a clip also

Here is what i'm getting. It doesn't seem to affect the recorded image, thank god, but everything on the LCD is way too green. This is not useable.

Hopefully Jan can chime in here and confirm if this is indeed a defect or a standard, not too impressive, color rendition on the on board LCD. Everything else about the cam is great though. Mean machine.

I dont have an AF100 yet so i cant really offer any thoughts. looks green. All panasonic monitors are green biased however. their high end panels, the 7", 8.4", 17" and 26" models all have green bias. maybe its the kind of phosphor. no idea....

Is this just on the flip-out and not on the EVF? Anyone have a comparison to something in addition to the Marshall? Say... a cheap Lilliput?

Green is usually a colour suppressed on TV-sets because it doesn't look good. I haven't noticed that colours look odd but when you do a WB or use AWB colours look spot on on my LCD. When you dial in i.e 3.2k it can look green or blue depending on the light source.

I have both problems: color shifting on LCD and color shifting on recorded clips if I try to make a custom white balance and with 3200k preset. Color rendition in EVF seems good. For me it is not useable also: looking at monitor while shooting makes me so nervous that I prefer to set the camera off and put back in the bag, that is exactly what I have done. I must wait my retailer opens the shop after vacation (on january 10th) and I'll bring the camera back to him to compare with other cameras.

Yes, in panny projectors also, but it is a very light cast, this is a marked cast that looks like a broken monitor.

is there a way to do that jan? All the lcd seems to be able to adjust is the saturation, brightness and contrast.

I just don't understand. I have run the feed into my marshall, into my two home lcd tv's that are somewhat calibrated, and none of them give me this green cast. am I missing something here? This makes me quite nervous.

I got my F 100 yesterday..... the flip out LCD definitely is green, even after a correct white balance. The EVF looks right color wise however. I have twiddled dials but have not been able to dial the the green bias of the LCD.

I may take a drive down to L L Lozeau in montreal this morning, if they have an AF100 on demo so that i can compare results. This might be a good way to put this to rest and assure myself and everyone else if this is indeed something to expect with this camera or not.

I'm really hoping that Panasonic releases a firmware that allows us to control a little more than Brightness, Contrast, and Saturation of the on board LCD. This is more than just a practical feature.

It was the same on the HVX and other lcd's - what control do you feel you are lacking? Blue only?

What we are lacking is the ability to change the LCD color balance. Saturation enough will not remove the green bias. I'm driving down to a local store in afew minutes to get to the bottom of this and report back with the findings.

yeah, Then my trip will not be a waste of time and hopefully others who experience this will know for sure if it's a defect or if it's common of the camera.

I know the dealer I have my pre-order with has a demo unit if Lozeau doesn't...

This is the first thing to add in the new firmware release. A greenish monitor is not a problem if we can correct it. I know it is only an onboard monitor and not a reference monitor, but I need at least an idea of what I am shooting. Furthermore the EVF has no castings

alright. It's confirmed.

the af100 lcd screen has a green bias. More so visible in tungsten than anything else. Their store unit showed the exact same image as mine.

Recommendation:

Panasonic, release a firmware that allows the user to adjust color balance on the lcd screen.

Use the on board lcd as reference while shooting, but rely more on the evf and external monitor for setting up your shots.

Should this be a sticky? I have a feeling once the swarm of cameras get in peoples hands, this question will be asked a lot.

Thanks!

Yeah,

the 30 min drive both ways was worth the peace of mind. And hopefully this will help others from going crazy.
