It is absolutely definitely not the GH1 sensor.Interesting *if* the AF100 has the same sensor as the GH1. I believe they are using the GH2 sensor which is larger from all leaked reports. It's 18/16 megapixels.

Yeah, the chart's wrong, they need to update it.Agreed, that chart came out before the current version of the AF-100 was known.
I guess the website is not up to date http://pro-av.panasonic.net/en/af100/feature02.html *2 VFR in 720p mode is not supported. That's exactly what I mean. That's what I shot. I shot a bunch of 32fps, 40fps, 44fps, and 60fps stuff in 1080.
What it won't do is "live"-looking 1080/60p. But it will do 1080/24p @ up to 60fps, or 1080/30p @ up to 60fps, or 1080/25p @ up to 50fps.
Plus, it has 720p mode with VFR too.
So yes, it's 1920x1080 @ 60fps recording, with playback at 24p or 30p.

Akihabra news is saying AF100 will be 837,900 yen (10,000USD) in Japan.
If the small Sony 35mm is $20k(as rumored) or above $10k then this Af100 will be the new undisputed Indie cam following it's grand daddy (Dvx100) and it's daddy (Hvx200) footstep. Now let's hope that it will at least give us clean ISO up to 1250. This is definitely will push the 5D as a specialty B cam for those extra epic super wide shots only cam and would kill the bulk of the 7D & 60D sales.
Remember, there's an entire segment of the population out there who uses Canon's still cameras for (gasp) their intended use: taking pictures.
.
I get the excitement over the AF-100, believe me. But to say a (likely) $6,000 specialty video camera (that comes with no lens) is going to kill "the bulk" of the sales of a camera (60D) that costs a fraction of the price is just nonsense.
Remember, there's an entire segment of the population out there who uses Canon's still cameras for (gasp) their intended use: taking pictures.
Nothing is going to "kill" anything. Except maybe in Barry's resolution chart tests, of course.
Agreed.
It's interesting however, to see people, (myself included) pay upwards of $6k on accessories to make a camera like the 7d perform like a real video camera when the AF-100 will do it all right out of the box, with the addition of a lens.
Not to mention the fact that you wrote a book about it.![]()
