A7s sample footage

Looks good, Cyork.

Are you using the straight-up PP7? Anything on white balance?

Oh, and what lenses?

Oops, here's the right link. https://www.flickr.com/x/t/0098009/photos/91320022@N06/14635746405/in/set-72157645233610707/

I'm using slog2 in all of those shots in the gallery. WB is a mix of auto and manual 5600k I find the LCD shows that the presets for the usual daylight, tungsten etc are too warm? I think indoors, the underwater setting has been a blessing. That and fluorescent warm white. Lens wise, all shots are with the Rokinon 35mm cine 1.5. I really like slog2 and pp6 so far.

cyork, these are very nice!!

Thanks! Still more playing to do. Haven't tried bringing sharpness down but it seems like it probably needs a little less. Waiting to see what some of the other people here come up with. Hope Frank Glencairn creates a custom profile for this thing!

I tried Fluo Warm White as well yesterday and it's pretty good indoors.

Likely need to setup some customs from a grey card, I think, and have a gander at how that helps capture.

Pp6 is a really solid start indeed.

I think nailing it is always great, especially for higher end paid shoots but dang if it doesn't grade so well that I haven't been sweating it so far. Within reason of course! lol

cyork, did you use any ir uv or ir nd filters? Thanks for putting up some xvac files for download. I can't wait to have a play with them.

Not this go around. I have some WW Tiffen ND's but haven't used them yet. Just cranking up the shutter and stopping down. I haven't uploaded any SOTC clips yet but I did post this compression test on Vimeo the other day. Just quick lazy upload. Short, no music, shot rough due to constantly playing with settings.

Regarding white balance, if it works like it does on my 5N, then custom WB is really good and very easy to use. Just point the camera at a white or grey card and take a sample using only the center of the image (unlike the canons, which use the whole image, making this cumbersome). This corrects both the K and the G-M axis, taking into account any color shifts caused by your lens or filters. It works really well on my 5N.

Cyork, are you using Zebras? It never dawned on me to turn them off until just now... seems like there needs to be a specific zebra setting just for SLOG2, the tiny little waveform does a better job of letting me know what's clipped (at first glance)... it goes pretty far beyond 100+ but it would be cool to have someone else check.

Sort of figuring it out... still need to mess with the color depth a bit more. Current profile's got too much red going on, so the second two stills are film convert, neutralizing the red.

About to make another adjustment and head back out with new info in mind.

Disclaimer: yes I do like saturation/poppy stuff, sorry.

Dang, those are friggin nice man! Hey, I love punchy grades. I'm torn between trying to satisfy those who love the milky hipster grades (trendy as hell right now) and grades that actually have a black and clean whites. I am using zebras at 100% and I'm not sure if I should set that to 109 or not? Pretty much just eyeballing after I decide what clips on the high ends. I do watch the waveform too.

Oh also can someone else confirm this: banding on the screen > Banding in the file? Seems to be that way for me. Not bad though, it's cool that you can see what you're doing as you adjust PP settings, looks like it's kinda real time.

I still can't get an HDMI signal out to my dreamcolor though >.< Might have to try a new cable today.

I think the Zebras might actually be really dangerous lol. They show clipping with SLOG2 @ 100+ And I'm REALLY sure that they're not appropriate, because I snapped them off just now in the back alley and just used the wave, and noticed that I was probably underexposing SLog by more than a stop n'a half just to escape some highlight blowouts.

If you could experiment and report back when you have time that'd be sick.

I love these! Especially the 2nd and 3rd ones. Were these with the old tokina too?

Yeah the 28-70/2.6 -- seems like a really good fit actually. I'm surprised.

I've officially joined the band wagon! Reading some of the posts you guys put up has helped as well. Here's a quick grab from some footage I shot after getting the camera. This is about 45 mins AFTER sunset! (compression on here is pretty bad)

Last one before I go out to figure some stuff. No FC, but adjusted for the red tint, then LOG adjustments... need to pull that red out in camera.
