$65 Loupe on T2i it rocks!

I bought the Foto-Tip loupe from Ebay. I'm extremely happy with it. It's a piece of plastic, don't spend more than $100 on one. The connection is solid through the magnet. Be wary of gear snobs on this forum. While I agree that you have to be a snob on most of your camera gear, this is an accessory that does not require a lot of cash like nice lenses, etc...

Was that for use with the 7D or 550D? I've heard they're fine for the 7D, but a little too small on the 550D.

Guy sells a knockoff on Ebay for th T2i out of Houston. I got one, works good. I have nothing t compare it to but it's made focussing easier for me so for $65 I am a fan. Cheesycam has the link but in the comments someone said it was sold out.

No you need to think about it. These dslrs are constantly changing and if you are ever in trouble financially you have to look at all of your assets. If I pay $144 for an LCDVF and I'm able to sell it for $120 that means it holds value and worth it.

I bought this viewfinder for $99 and I doubt I could sell it right now to anyone for even $50. So while you might think your saving more up front it is better to buy from a company that has a name that holds value is supported and worst comes to worst you can always sell it.

If I anted to sell my loupe right now how would anyone buy a mounting frame for it? As a matter of fact I'm going to prove my point right now.

ANYONE who wants to buy this loupe from me BRAND NEW minus the mounting bracket because I attached it to my camera RIGHT NOW I will sell it for $90 shipped. Someone please prove me wrong that this loupe has value

Uh...no thanks I bought mine for $65. Works great. So I won't buy yours for $90 just like I won't buy your LCDVF for $120.

What does price matter if you buy something, it works and you are happy with it? I agree with others, resale value is not something I am concerned about for something I got for $65.

I just installed three Tascam DA-38's as "rack filler" in my edit bay. I won't tell you what I paid for them new and it's not worth my trouble to sell them (they still have very pretty lights and impress my clients as much as my un-godly expensive matte box) but long story short - buy what you can afford that works for you and if you're smart you can make it work or you. I have the Zacuto Z-Finder for my 7-D. It was "free" because I set my prices for my clients and I can always (and usually do... ) pay myself less 'per hour' in order to re-invest in my company. Then there are tax write-off's and depreciation and loopholes and 'software' and all of it hearkens back to "penny wise, pound foolish". Anyone else with a Targa 2000 board can tell you re-sell value means less and less as all this new stuff comes out. I threw away a Sony RTE-3000 ~ $20,000 to make MPEG-1 ( I should have kept it and mounted a ipod nano in the front)... how about the pile of original Pioneer S-101 drives buring 3.9GB DVD-R's, $15,000 each plus $60 per coaster, or S201 @5K each... and on and on and on.
A good friend of mine has a fantastic model railroad, been working on it for years. I would casually guess he has over $100,000 invested in time and materials. The sad truth is his heirs will have to pay someone to cart it away... Meh... I've lurked on these boards for years and the truth is - just make something good. Use 8mm, use DV, use improv acting, write compelling scripts and tell interesting stories. If you can't take a photo with an old Polaroid that makes people weep it ain't because you didn't have a Z-finder strapped to it!

Word to the wise. My grandmother has a T2i now. What do you have to offer? Think about it...

People going way off subject here. The point is that if you buy something of value you can sell it for value. If I own a 3rd party battery grip vs an oem I can expect to get less because it is 3rd party vs something that is oem.

Everything you buy has value and if you need $30 to buy pampers for your child the first thing I would do is sell everything I own, hence YES you need to buy things of value because you never know what can happen in a pinch

I think we all understand that.

But the idea that you should spend more money now, because you may need to sell it later -- that is just a strange way to approach it.

Also we're not talking about a Canon L lens versus some plastic toy. We're talking about two pieces of plastic that pretty much do the exact same thing.

Finally, you may well be able to recover the same percentage of the price you paid for your battery grip, OEM or aftermarket.

Thought I'd let anyone know who doesn't. These things are now available every where on ebay. The easiest way to find them is by searching for a 5D viewfinder. :-D

I have received the LCDVF knockoff and overall it is great optics, very useable to focus. However, mine arrived (faulty) with 3 magnetic sides (instead of four) and as a result it keeps falling almost as soon as you touch it. I am currently waiting for a replacement part. Hopefully this will attach better on the metallic frame of the lcd.

mm i need specs for reading but but cant see with good focus closer than around 10" so this loupe with specs is a no go, i want one that allows eyesight correction like the hoodloupe but with better fixing to use without glasses so i am not sure this one will do or not.

It works fine with my contact lenses. I'll try it with specs and let you know.

Thanks but you must realise i cant see in focus closer than 10" with specs or 6ft without, this is why it must have have eysight correction like camcorders viewfinders.cheers
