I heard rumors of people already getting their hands on one.. anybody know who has them?

I'm in the market for a new card, but I have a feeling i'm going to get screwed, pay $1600 for a new 32 gb card and then the new 64 gb card starts shipping... I know I should wait..

Is there a good place on the internet selling the 32 gb p2 card ?

Panasonic said it would come out this fall, so it should hopefully be around the corner.

Maybe Jan can give us an update?

Have you guys followed Stevets success with an Expresscard reader with SDHC Cards on the Sony XDCAM EX? All the SxS functionality...With SDHC cards? We are talking a 16gb SxS card for aprox 280 USD...

The 64GB card should be late November, and while I don not have pricing, it will not be the same as the 32GB.

Hope that helps,

Jan

Yes, they are overpriced at this point in relation to other storage media. Dramatically overpriced.

But, Panasonic can control that price and probably won't lower it to ever reflect an accurate market value because they need your $$$ and can easily control the price as there are no third party cards.

I would imagine they are going to wait as long as they can to release the 64 GB cards because they will obviously have to slightly lower the prices for existing cards and modify either the prices or "free" cards with the camera packages.

IMHO.

i disagree cameralover, i'm almost certain that these cards cost a lot of money to produce. a lot. i'm almost 100% convinced they are not hiking the price on them.

it might cost more, but price hiking is definately not happening.

If I read it correctly, the P2 card contains 4 SD cards in a RAID inside?

I guess Panasonic is lucky that as the price of SD cards has dramatically fallen over the years, the cost of the P2 enclosure has dramatically increased...

It seems like even if the P2 enclosure costs $1000 to produce, then the 64 GB card should probably cost about ____

i say it here as i have in several other posts. im soooo sick of all the crying over P2 prices!

i paid $1300 for my first 8 gig P2 card (which BTW, paid for itself in one job in time saved in not having to do traditional tape log and capture) $1600+ for a 64 sounds more than reasonable to me

all these goobers using SD cards and tapes as price comparison. its not that simple.

if you cant afford the buy-in to P2 then just stay with your DVX and stop all the whining!
