5D MKIII specs

Canon finally is offering CA correction in-camera, like Nikon has had since forever, but I would be surprised if that applied to video; it's probably just for stills.

Edit: Emmanuel, I think you can delete your own posts by going in to "edit"; there's an option for "Delete this post in the following manner:"

As far as "look" is concerned, the C300 is no better than a T2i.

To my eye, it seems to have higher resolution, much less moire and jello, way, way more low-light sensitivity, a flatter more gradeable look, a much more robust codec... other than that, though, yeah, same look :)

Agree - I even prefer the way T2i looks! I don't like the shape of C300 body too much :)

I'm also sure that if you did a blind screening to general audiences, the majority would probably actually like the look of even the 5DII to the C300

Well, if you did general screening to blind audiences - yes, quite possible :)

If I was into conspiracies, I would believe that you were up to a SciOps game to make everyone go nuts with all the repeat post.... LOL, Kidding.....

Seriously Emanuel, the repeated posts are a bit to much. Here is what you need to do to stop them in the mean time. Sign out after every post or reply you make. This way it will assure that your system can't post massive duplicate posts. It would be a polite gesture to your fellow DVXusers until you can remedy this hiccup.

if it didn't, the reason would be that this is computing intensive and the digic 5 can't do it 24 times per second while it's busy with everything else it has to do

The Question: Will this work in Video mode? I hope so and I don't know why it wouldn't.

I just called Canon. Tech support does not know yet. They will have more info in a couple of weeks or closer to shipping which is at the end of March. Color space is 4:2:0 as expected. They doubt that there will be any new IS 24-70 or 16-35 as was documented in the canon promo vids, any time soon. But they also mentioned that they are the last to know of product launches- usually only a day before the launch.

Is that colour space for the IPB codec, or does it apply to the I-Frame as well? Be a bit of a bummer if it did

I did not specificly ask. I will be suprised if it is different. Don't get me wrong, I hope it is 4:2:2, but I highly doubt it. I had to point the rep to the Canon site that had the Videos that documented the IS 24-70 and 16-35, So in many ways the collective knowledge on this forum knows more than the reps you call at this point. That will change in a few weeks when they have more detailed info, but by then we may still know first as testers, may be freed to share :) Anyone? Anyone?

I guess 4:2:2 is too much to hope for *sigh* I really am looking to this to be my do-it-all cam for the next 5 years, can't afford a new FF cam more often than that (My 5D is about 5 yrs old), and I fully expect the "Cine-DSLR" to be way out of my budget, north of the 1Dx I should expect.

Ah well, it *is* a stills cam first, despite the video-friendly sensor resolution.

Essentially, the improvements to the camera are beneficial to our stills division, more than our motion. C300 is the way to go.

From someone with their hands on the camera.

Also, 1080 is embargoed by Canon, so NO 1080 video until Canon says so.

I guess we could speculate ( xD Like always aye? ) but it's probably quality control. You release 1080 too soon and everyone who cares about the video side will see it and make a quick decision on whether they purchase or not. Those 540's, you'd have to really be sensitive to certain things to see what's going on. I'm okay being wrong, but my eyes saw sharpening, post sharpening not camera sharpening. There's a distinct look to that.

Also, without taking his post too far out of context, Vincent LaForet did say he didn't throw his hat into the pool of creators on this one for specific reasons. You can go over to his blog to read that and infer whatever from it, I suppose.

Oh well. Less money to spend. xD... at least... until... April comes around...

"Delighting You Always" has now forever changed in context. Dang, I am going to laugh at that every time I see it, and no one is going to get it.

Maybe they are still optimizing the code on the video codec? It happens. I'd say if they really are not allowing 1080p footage yet, they care about it. So that seems more like a good thing than a bad thing.

I would be more annoyed with seeing what not to expect in the final shipping version.

They should've just waited to release any video, lol...because no matter what, even if the video is heavily compressed, 720p, etc. people still make judgements well before they should. Better to leave people to just bicker about what's on paper then what's on Vimeo. Until I see a raw piece of footage that's lit decent, I'll reserve my opinion. On paper, so far...it looks good but time will tell.
