What would be considered the "right" price?
I have no idea. haha. never seen one second hand. You'd probably get a better price from people in the wedding and 4k business (or ebay). DVXuser is largely video and HD centric.

Do you know the current price of 1D C in China? it's about 9800USD! and it's brand new/with full local warranty. it's just insane how the price drops over time.
Actually I bought mine at about 10300USD last year. Not that much price drop for a year. Just enough for a 128 CF card

The people from wedding business will get the 2nos of 4k Camcorders from Sony at one 1DC's price.
I think you can try selling at 10% off CPS price.

It's getting resolved. A part was missing apparently.

On a side note here is a sample of a few lock-offs I was able to get at an off road race:

I was on a Gimbal but was able to push the button before jumping over to my position for the shot I had to get. This was more of a back-up angle but I'm still impressed with the quality.
how's the gimbal working for smooth slow pans and movements?

Hey Guys, I have a unique opportunity to travel to India for awhile to produce something i've been trying to put together for awhile. I'd love to hold onto the camera if I can, but to make it happen I may have to sell my 1DC. It has very low hours and shutter use. Any interest?

1D C is a great camera. I am sure you will get many buyers.

This is a side by side screen shot of 4k and raw.

These were both pushed quite far. I had initially gone for a dreary winter look, using Nuetral with reduced saturation. But later on I wanted to see whether the tonality would hold when pushed. The 4K image has one curve adjustment, and sharpening. The raw image has multiple layers of color correction and shading. Neither of these are final grades, simply preliminary looks.

(not 100% crop, just approximating subject size relation)

The 14bit raw file is more flexible, obviously, but the 4k file performed very well, and maintained good tonality. I am continually curious how much is compression, how much is resolution, and how much is 8bit. Jpeg stills are great, but they have tremendous resolution, and less compression. Whereas, something like compressed 8bit HD loses tonality real quick. Nice thing about the 4k 8bit versus the HD is: tonality. Much more to work with, and extends latitude (particularly shadow detail). Plus, those colors are so easy to get. I like how they can be so clean and yet full of life.

Hi all,

The subject may have been covered already, so apologies in advance if it has.

I fund it very difficult to focus easily using the back screen of my 1DC. So I thought that I would invest in a monitor. But it's hard to be able to try them all. Could you guys help me make the right choice... I looked at so many reviews that it becomes a mess in my head.

First I feel that want to keep things small. so I looked at the smallHD DP4 or zacuto. Maybe the new DP7 oled could be great but is it too big.

So what do you guys use?

Thanks in advance for your feed back..

This has been covered.

simple answer is Cineroid Retina EVf.

I am just going to say this once: do not buy the zacuto. It is only good for framing. It smears, it has poor resolution, its bulky, its laggy, the older ones i've used had issues like the batteries not fitting snuggly and coming lose and the diopter wore loose as well.

The other thing to know after you get an evf, is hdmi lag. You will have lag on almost any hdmi connection. Not sure why, but experience it. So, if your evf feels like it is lagging, it may be the hdmi.

People say the cineroid is ugly, but when you actually see one on a rig, it is better looking than the others because it is so much more slim. It is not flashy and bulky. So ignore the nay sayers. Get a cineroid retina evf. Same price as a zacuto.

I prefer the Kinotehnik LCDVFe

I run the Alphatron on my C300. Lots of built-in display features(peaking in diff colors, B&W, zebra, etc.), adjustable color/contrast/phase, etc., flip-up diopter, pass through signal(HDMI & SDI), multiple power options, etc. Depending on how long you can wait(because God knows when it will actually ship, I personally saw the new Zacuto Graticle OLED VF at NAB, and even though it was a "working prototype", the image was BEAUTIFUL. I will probably switch from my Alpha to it as soon as it starts shipping.

Most manufacturers are due for an update. Only alphatron and cineroid have anything worth while when it comes to critical focus and live exposure tools.
But if anyone says the alphatron is better than the cineroid retina, is stretching the truth. The alpha may have a better diopter, but the cineroid is no slouch, plus the cineroid is more modular, with a smaller footprint, more power options, and more mounting options. There is also word that the alphatron has more lag.

There will always be something better around the corner. If you had to buy today, alpha and cineroid retina are the only options. Heard good things about kinotech, but not sure they have enough resolution.

Always bear in mind that anything plugged into 1D C HDMI port has 4 frames of lag, which makes fast focus tracking imprecise.

Thank you all for your feedback.

I can see that there are no fans of small HD. I going to have a look at the cineroid. The look of it does not bother at all. It's a tool. My only concern it to be able to work with it and get the feeling that I am in focus. Just came back from shooting the Big Sur, a 1/3 of my long shots are out of focus.

So here is what I managed to save:

I tried to give an old kodak look.

Interesting comment Marvinhello. Does anyone find it difficult to work with the 4 frames of lag?

I would have loved to see some shots taken in early morning and/or late evening soft light. Also, a polariser would have helped in some of the shots where the light was close to 90 degrees from the sides.

I find it difficult in some situations, that's the reason why I use the back LCD as EVF when doing run & gun shooting, with a LCDVF loupe.
