No link posted to the video.I have done side by side and hence the 'way' comment, I'll do a proper set up next week to post up but until then here's a simple test: have a look at the image quality difference between the two formats when connected to any monitor even a tv. You'll notice the resolution improvement straight away.
I have only used it on a tripod so cannot comment on jello effect but I'm guessing would still be there as it is a sensor and shutter issue not compression.
I had high hopes on the Alphatron, as I prefer to use an EVF, I was about to purchase one but then I tried it and found it unusable due to what I can only describe as lag when panning/tilting/moving. It is sharp and great but then you move and you can't tell what is in focus. I would love a 3rd party EVF like Sony's f55 one that is very impressive.
Anthony, it depends on what you are shooting, the style and how much you are willing to build up your camera's footprint. But when I tested a great monitor that also records uncompressed straight from camera I was sold.
I guess the only reason I would say the sharpness difference would not be much, is because it is hard to beat the s35, and when working with the HDMI output recording, one would "zoom" in digitally in post by 7% to remove the black bars, which would not only reduce the true resolution, but cause further de-sharpening in the reappropriating pixels in a minor resolution change.
But that is all theory.
