Very sneaky and may a design photo that do not exist.

"The EOS-1D C also has a system extension terminal that can connect to the optional Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E6A
unit to provide unique wireless capabilities not typically
available in cinema cameras. Users can control the EOS-1D C
using any web-enabled devices such as laptops, smartphones
and tablet PCs. Functions of the EOS-1D C with the WFT-E6A
unit include the ability to adjust shooting parameters, to start
and stop the camera, to monitor a remote feed and to input
metadata."

IT do not specifically say control video shooting on smartphone, it just say it can control the camera. Also it only say "start and stop the camera"

Wondering is anyone here a CPS member and can ask them to confirm?

If you don't have an easy to use toll free number for Canon, they usually reply to your email VERY quickly(24hours). They talk like they are trained by a sales department, and they bounce you around inbetween replies, so you have to re-repeat all your information each time you write, even when you are replying, but other than that, it is great to have such fast responses.

Didn't have enough time in Hong Kong to meet up with Cookinghusband, such a pity, next time for sure though. State side again. Different kind of light to get used to. Much of the synthetic look and feel of China's city night lights, has trickled into US's natural light for me (after all light is light):

Still loving the fact that stills and video are very close in quality. raw stills can be pushed more, of course, but the 4k is robust in post, and the HD has good detail (even comparable to the jpeg stills down rezzed.) It is the first slr that shooting stills is great reference material, and directly applicable to the video side of things. It is like having a polaroid which matches your film stock exactly. I really love that aspect of the camera.

(these are the shots that make me hate not having live wave forms... underexposure in C-log can kill a shot. View assist exagerates the amount of shadow detail, and takes sometime to know it. It is basically the opposite of the other picture styles: if you don't see it in the shadows, then it is not there, but your highlights may look blown, but may still be there. I prefer seeing my highlights, and trusting the shadows are there, as shadows are not as critical as highlights. Sounds a bit like I contradicted myself.)

Despite Alexa's and other cameras being great, there is something awesome about always having the same camera and look wherever you go. (hopefully next gen Red's will be more portable, or Canon/Nikon get something more video centric. 1D-C is a nice start, but 8bit, and no live exposure tools... )

Dear Mods, is it possible to change the prefix of this thread to "1DC" ?

I am considering whether to continue to update this one or just start a new one with the correct prefix.

Thanks. =)

This is why I just bought a 1d c. Handheld and great looking. What lens did you use? By handheld do you mean without a rig? Any details would be great. I am trying to figure out what lens/es to get going with. Nice work.

no complex rig, just a LCDVF attached on the camera LCD and an ARRI plate for extra grip.

The lenses are Zeiss 50mm f2.0 Makro and Zeiss 100mm f2.0 Makro. Iris is wide open in 99% of the shots.

Just found this thread. Does that make me user #6? :) Lots of fantastic info here guys, much appreciated.

The last short fireworks clip I uploaded to Vimeo is a good example. I went in and out of stills/video shooting mode all the time with various settings. Extremely convenient with C1, C2 and C3.

I had not seen this yet (vimeo was blocked in China) This was really beautiful.

Does anybody have suggestions for smoother playback in premiere for 1080p footage on a 2011 or older macbook pro? Recently tried editing on one and it was choppy. Other dslr footage seemed smooth.

James, Which version of Premiere Pro are you using? Is it CS 5.5? I ask because 5.5 does not work correctly with footage from the new versions of Canon H.264 introduced with the 5D3 last year. I am assuming that the 1D-X and 1D-C use the same h.264 codecs in 1080P that the 5D3 uses, ALL-I and IPB.

The problem with CS 5.5 is it does not recognize ALL-I and IPB properly. With All-I there is a color shift. With IPB there is a color shift and a huge performance hit because it falls back on the 32-bit Quicktime engine (Adobe QT32 Server hands off processing to Apples's Quicktime componets) to process the footage.

You may wonder why older Canon DSLR footage like the 5D2 does not have this problem in CS5.5 or why the new codecs work correctly in CS6 and CC. That is because the Canon codecs are correctly detected, Quicktime is bypassed and the codecs are handled inside of Premiere Pro.

That sounds like the exact solution. The laptop had Premiere CS 5.5 installed. Thanks!

Working great on another machine with a recent copy of Premiere.
