Looking for advice on a battery powered hard/single source light for interviews. Ideally daylight, but tungsten considered.
Normally I'd use a DLH4 as my key, but need to work in scenarios without mains.
Even better if it's a Chinese cheapie, but with good CRI!
I know this has been discussed several times before, but I recall some adapters had issues with specific lenses. I've just ordered a Canon 24-105mm f4 II lens and would like recommendations for a Canon EF to E mount adapter?
I'm not after a focal reducer (having just ordered the appropriate EF...
A client is engaging me a series of stylish/illustrated interviews re their org for internet distribution. At least two of the initial ones lend themselves to gliding/steadicam moves, eg interviewee on a long walk through moorland.
Consequently I'm thinking of pushing the button on a brushless...
Both rain covers have now arrived. The Movo is slightly shorter in length than the Vortex, but they both amply cover the FS5 and the extra length doesn't really bring any benefit IMHO. The Movo ssems a bit higher, which might help with attachments.
The material for both is very similar. The...
I've just ordered the Vortex Storm jacket for my FS5: http://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/vortex_p-sj-m
I read that it's a good budget model that (mostly) fits the FS5 in medium size.
But after ordering I spotted the Movo range on Amazon for half the price...
I own a FS5 and various Nikon and Sony lenses. All my Nikon glass mounts on my FS5 via dumb adaptors (Speedbooster and Commlite), so no electronics. Going forward I intend to start purchasing Canon glass. My hope is I'll get back some/all of the standard electronic features. In order of...
I was wondering if any of you guys are mounting a Gopro (or other actioncam brand) on top of your FS5/7's and shooting on both so you can get at least a couple of shots out of one camera person/angle?
I've been thinking of doing this for a wedding I'll be shooting. But right now I only have a...
I've pretty much always followed the double frame rate rule. But on the FS5 even with a speedbooster and fast lens (f1.8) I sometimes want that bit of extra exposure. Thus far I've never gone down to 1/25 shutter speed in 25p, but I was wondering if, and how often, others do?
I get that it...
I saw this gismo and it got me thinking: https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/n10/Brainwavz-Hengja-The-Headphone-Desk-Hanger/B012VIWG28/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1479223005&sr=1-1&keywords=Brainwavz+Hengja+-+The+Headphone+Desk+Hanger
I'd like something like this to clip/bolt onto one of my...
I've got a job booked where the client has a reasonable budget for hiring in lenses. I'll be shooting the project on both a FS5 and a A7Sii. The filming scenarios involve quite a few tight shots (MCU's CU's of faces) with shallow DOF. So for example one of the lens I'll be swapping between the...
I recently purchased a SmallHD 501 field monitor that loads/displays LUTs. In a few days I have to shoot a project in SLOG 2 on a FS5. But I'll need to do a fair bit of complex lighting preferably keeping the camera in SLOG2 the whole time.
Can anyone recommend a downloadable LUT for my 501...
One of my UK clients needs to shoot something out in New York in the next couple of weeks (dates TBC). He wanted me to shoot it, but I can't due to other commitments. So now he wants to hire a good camera operator in New York.
It's a 2 day shoot and there will be a lot of moving shots. So they...

I realise this is probably the wrong board to post this in, but I've been monitoring/occasionally posting here for 9 months, so I trust the opinions/recommendations of quite a lot of you.

Cine Alta on Facebook, who gave full advance details of the FS5 v2 update and was right, posted this recently:
New Firmware 3.0 for PXW-FS5 adds MPEG HD422 50Mbps and MPEG HD420 35Mbps recordings with CBKZ-SLMP upgrade licence. Available from December 2016.
This is sort of FS5 related, but forgive me if it strays outside the intended remit for this forum.
One of my clients, who is very media savvy is considering shooting a corporate on a combination of cameras. Essentially I'm one of his camera ops?
The intended/possible cameras include:
Sony...
A couple of times recently I've shot interviews on my FS5 where the subject has started off inside the DOF but then leant forward/backward when in full swing and thus their eyes temporarily go soft.
Now I realise I can solve the problem by widening the DOF. But in many cases I want things that...
