I'm wondering about this as well. My budget is sub $2k. I am looking at Light and Motion because of the size, battery power, and pretty good output but the cost is nuts (for the output). Any other recommendations?
I have a couple of Fiilex 360s with the fresnel option. Not the magnetic $49 fresnel but the barndoor kit fresnel. I got them used on B&H for decently cheap. The color quality is very high and the light decently shapable. It can also change color temp. The fresnel really focuses the light and seemly ups the intensity of the light. But it's still not hard enough to cut a cookie. But neither are most LED fresnels that I've seen. I use Core v-mount batteries.
I forgot to mention. I bought them to replace a couple of Arri 300 tungsten fresnels which I loved but were stolen. Those were perfect for backgrounds and rim lighting, aside from the color temp and heat. But most of what I shoot now is in the field so I need these lights to be battery powered and, ideally, to both fit into a single crate. My main lights are Astras.
