I'm teaching a cinematography course at a university and for the next class i'm looking for examples where light makes the scene. We've all seen examples where light "adds" to the scene's meaning but what are examples where without the light there would be no scene??
I'm looking for mid-range slow mo cameras - around 250-300 fps. Are there any cameras capable of that other than Phantom?
Here is what i'm coming up with:
240fps
Panasonic EVA1
Red
Sony F55 with R7
Anyone has experience filming extreme slow-mo with those?
When working with a soundman as cameraman, he usually has some kind of audio solution. He does audio, i do images = easy. But sometimes i get one of those gigs where I must monitor the audio too and for that i have wired headphones that drive me crazy. The wire always gets in the way. Is there...
I have a shoot coming up that the whole action takes place backwards. Anyone can recommend how best to monitor the footage play backwards after each take to know we got what we needed. Are tehre cameras that play footage backwards, or should i just record proxies to one of the on-board recorders?
Anyone knows of a way to re-build old flags and nets. I have "carcasses" of destroyed flags/nets (the metal is fine only the material isn't) laying around the shop and would love to bring those back to life. Anyone knows of some DIY ways?
I'm building a large photo booth using this Impact booth as starting point:

My photo booth will be twice as long. I like their strip lights solution. Anyone knows where i could find those or similar?
Signal from my c300 mark II comes out in all sort of framerate flavors thus confusing the heck out of my legacy HDMI wireless transmitter/receiver combo. On my A-camera i have Decimator that converts anything the camera spits out into 1080i that is acceptable by both the wireless transmitter and...
If the shot i'm after was a closeup or medium shot - there would be a plenty of options for realistic looking lightning strike but on a wider shot - where the building i need to "strike" is around 75ft away from the light it's much more complex. So... Anyone can suggest a solution for lightning...
So i'm trying to simplify the power distribution for my new wireless director monitor. Right now i have Connex Mini receiver connected to Lilliput Q7 both powered by one vmount battery. Right now both are powered by dtap - one on the plate another on the battery but i feel i could wire the plate...
My 1.2 HMI has given a zap to two different crew members on two different shoots. Anyone knows best way to trouble shoot it? I have no problems of opening the fixture and seeing is anything is loose ut wanted to know if anyone can offer some guidelines. It's LTM 1.2 PAR if it matters.
The production is using a few Mark Is but i prefer my rig (which is Mark II). They are filming in "Wide DR".
What's the best way to "downgrade" my c300 mark 2 to match mark 1's "Wide DR"????
Just got the link for the spot a filmed recently for Canon. Filmed with Canon cameras and lenses (needless to say, i hope).
Enjoy:

And of course if you have any questions - i'll try to answer to best of my ability.
Anyway to match those two cameras. I'm being asked to film with 2 cameras and the production can't afford 2x c300 mark ii. If i can't find the matching settings then i might be forced to film with 7d's which i would prefer not to.
Any suggestions?
A few days ago i wrapped a big one-night shoot for a PSA for Dept of Transportation in New York City. Unlike the previous spot i shot for them that was seen by millions of New Yorkers (and tourists) in cabs and on digital billboards - this one was WAY more complex and technically challenging. So...
I have a shoot where i'll need to power a 6-light (1k bulb each) with a Honda 6.5kw genny. I see that the genny has only 2x 20a receptacles and 1x 30a. Is there a way to connect the light with 60a bates to be powered by this genny?
