how to rendition old flags/nets

Anyone knows of a way to re-build old flags and nets. I have "carcasses" of destroyed flags/nets (the metal is fine only the material isn't) laying around the shop and would love to bring those back to life. Anyone knows of some DIY ways?

I think my local Barbizon used to offer a recover service, which was basically a trade-in. You'd give them your old frames and they'd hand you a recovered one(don't remember the cost, but cheaper than fully new) and then they'd just send off the old frames in-bulk to be re-done.

I know you are in NYC but for the west coast DVXers, there are all kinds of places in LA that do re-covers, American Grip, Norms, Matthews, The Rag Shop, etc. Mostly in Burbank and Sun Valley.

If you have an intact "stem" and frame you can attach thin sheets of wood which are painted matte black. They're really common here and are probably even better for bad weather e.g. quickly covering an HMI ballast when it's raining.
