On occasion I have a client that wants footage right from the camera delivered ASAP. This is a great use of the DVX200's USB capability and I have used external hard drives to do this.
I tried a few USB sticks and the camera rejects all of them as soon as I plug them in. I've tried USB2, USB3...
I've been shooting with the DVX200 for over 2 years, primarily corporate. I don't use the AF very often, because the content doesn't require it. Last night I worked an ice show for a friend. He had me shooting full-skater shots (technically a "long shot"). The camera was set for...
Has anyone been able to copy video from the DVX200 directly to a USB thumb drive? I keep getting:
"This external media cannot be used. Disconnect the USB cable from this unit."
I've tried several thumb drives from 1Gb to 32Gb.
My external hard drives work just fine.
I was on a DVX200 Facebook page where some folks were having issues getting the DVX200 stock scene files to render good skin tones. This has been posted before, but I find the scene file created in this video to be great at skin tones. It has become my default scene file...
95% of this video was shot with the DVX200. A couple shots are from a GoPro Hero5. Shot, produced, and published the video on day-1 of this two day event.
I got permission from my client to use any of the footage I shot in a promo. They'll be releasing a separate bio piece in a month or so.
The camera performed very well! I shot from 7:30am to 4pm. The only camera related issue was the inability to see the LCD in the super bright sun and...
I'm heading to Winter Park, CO tomorrow to prep for an all day shoot on the 5th of a paraplegic skier in a "sit ski". It will be all types of shots, primarily outdoors in snow. I have a Lowe backpack that the camera fits in, and most of the shots will be handheld with a Fig Rig. The...
Shot this today all with the DVX200. All of it was shot 1080P 100M 59.97 Default Scene File #1. Most of the sheep scenes also use iZoom maxed out. I did minor color correction, no other adjustments.
I'm seeing more noise in some UHD footage that I expect.
1) Shot in UHD 29.97 100M
2) Dropped into a 720P timeline (Premiere) with scale at 100% (so it's pushed in) and rendered in 720P.
3) F/W 1.81
4) Normal mode (not HIGH SENS)
5) 0Db gain
6) Iris WIDE
7) Scene file 4 "Still like" with NR at...
I have a dance studio client that can't afford a true two camera shoot. We came to a compromise where I will:
1) Shoot the show with a fixed wide shot in UHD.
2) Quickly deliver them an SD version online (Vimeo).
3) They will direct via timecode, where I should zoom-in and follow a performer...
Put this together "just for fun". All the footage was shot UHD, 59.94, 150M. Audio was all done with the internal mics, auto level. To be sure I could be ready to shoot quickly, I carried the camera in my hand, powered on, full wide, manual focus at infinity, as I walked. Not all the...
I shoot a fair amount of dance performances with low light. I've been using HIGH SENS mode as a default in these situations, adding 6dB of gain when necessary. More often than not, I'm forced to shoot with the iris open at 1/60th.
How are others using HIGH SENS, if at all?
I just got home from shooting some simple talking-head videos of political candidates for our local Chamber of Commerce. When I got home I was lamenting the file sizes for such a simple shoot where, in fact, the audio is more important than the video. I shot in my "default" settings of...
I'm bringing this topic into a new thread, because it's a workflow issue for me and I haven't seen any solutions yet.
As I shoot I take notes on each clip (good, bad, maybe, part 1, 1st half usable, etc.). When I go to ingest I need to map the actual clip file names to my notes. If you...
I would really, really, like the LCD/EVF DTL focus feedback to get output through the HDMI so I can see it on an external monitor. I can't find a way to do it, and suspect you can't. I shot three dance recitals Friday and Saturday where I had to sit, but the camera was about 18" above my...
I always try to have redundancy. When my primary camera was a Canon XH-A1 retrofitted with a CF recorder, I still went to tape *and* CF whenever possible. So wrt the DVX200....
I have been using SIMUL mode recording to two identical (usually 64Gb) cards. I keep the data on the cards until...
My main editing system is on Windows 7. I have the option to install Windows 10 for free but.....I'm a "If it isn't broken, don't fix it" person. That said, Windows Media Player will not play DVX200 4K/UHD files. Not a huge deal, more of an inconvenience.
Does anyone have a solution?
Thanks.
