Every time I catch a glimpse of the lighting setups in featurettes or bts I press pause and try to figure out exactly what's going on - but rarely can, never having been on a set myself. Books only get you so far and I still feel like I am absolutely clueless with regard to lighting. So I'll...

Anyone used one of these? http://www.drobo.com/Products/Index.html Any reason this would not be a good solution for video editing? I've been looking at them for a while but was holding off until they added Firewire. I've always used daisy-chained firewire drives, so RAID is new to me. I...

Hi, I'm Jared and I suck at Photoshop. :) I'd love to hear what, if anything, is working in this image but more importantly what's not. Any ideas how to make this better?

Wish I'd remembered to post these when everyone was discussing Raiders vs. Crystal Skull, but oh well. This guy, Mark Kennedy, has been posting some really well-thought out breakdowns and story analysis over the last few months on his blog "Temple of the Seven Golden Camels." The most recent...

http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/thecuriouscaseofbenjaminbutton/ Trailer's finally out!! Looks absolutely fantastic. I love movies like this. Very strong "Big Fish" vibes. Forrest Gump, too. Which is a good thing. As a matter of fact the trailer might be using the theme from Big...

I wasn't getting any movies for a while, guess I was too busy to notice...but of course my queue had run dry. I've got "Thelma and Louise" and Carpenter's "The Thing" on there right now, two I've been meaning to see for ages. After that, I got nothin'. Ideas? What have you watched and enjoyed...

Hours or days?

I'm in Napa, CA. It felt like a big one...Anyone else in Northern Cali? Is there a site with up to date Richter scale info?

I have a wedding ceremony almost fully edited on the timeline. When I opened it up this morning, there was a problem about halfway through. After a certain point in my timeline, all of my edited clips act like the source clip is much shorter than it actually is...the edits stayed exactly the...

This is either why I hate Sony or why I hate the PC experience in general, I can't decide which. http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/21/sony-hates-you-offers-50-fresh-start-option-to-build-your-la/ Update: Looks like they changed their minds. That is the only right move for what was a completely...

EDITED BY JACK TO ADD: Verify any information you see here by going to the manufacturer's website and/or emailing them before you make a purchase. Looking to buy a new adapter soon and as you all know there are many great options out there now! Props to all of the awesome guys out there...

http://zoomquilt2.madmindworx.com/zoomquilt2.swf Wow, this is a cool project. It made me dizzy. :) Move the slider to adjust the zooming speed or stop it altogether (obviously).

http://www.theonion.com/content/news/cgi_team_creates_realistic_oscar The guy just can't get no respect.

The whole "online" aspect of the fests poses a huge amount of work for all of the behind the scenes folks, Larry, Jason, Barry et al. and I think they've done a fantastic job. Huge kudos and thanks for all of their hard work. I hope this doesn't seem like complaining - but I had a few thoughts...

http://www.iklipz.com/MovieDetail.aspx?MovieID=9a23b518-c25e-44af-8582-77dcaf45b8c6 Looks like somewhat of a departure for him. Here's to hoping that A) he's not in it and B) it doesn't have a ridiculous twist.

I honestly don't think a worse mouse exists. I currently have three Mighty Mice, one of them the $70 wireless version. What complete pieces of crap. I've collected the two wired versions with systems I've bought this last year and purchased the wireless soon after. Horrible purchase. It didn't...
