Sony...being Sony

I read that post on Engadget and just started laughing. Say what you will about Apple, but at least they don't crush their products with useless bloatware.

So if I had some way of "scrubbing" my Gateway laptop, would it be even fast than it is? Yesterday I opened Vegas 8 and my Time fest entry was already edited for me and I haven't even shot it yet. Today I logged into the forum and found out I won.
Really, though. How does one get rid of all the "crapware" and not loose your programs?

If you go to control panel > add/remove programs, you can see (almost) everything installed on your computer and choose what to take off. After you do that, I recommend a registry cleaner (use at your own risk). I like CC Cleaner because it is simple and there is a free version of it. After this, if your computer has a ton of bloatware on it, I would imaging it would be much more responsive.

When ever I get a new computer I just take a fresh copy of XP I have and install that, formatting over everything the computer ships with. I find this is the best procedure to know exactly what is on your computer and to make sure you are getting the most performance out of your parts.

I used to hate Sony too. Still I don't really like them now. If not for the FX1/Z1U they wouldn't even be on my radar. They lost my dollar when they made such an awesome camera then screws it up but not adding 24p but knowing people wanted the function so they add a fake 30 and 24p, (which would've been fine had Panasonic and Canon not offered 24p, the XL2 was out at this time, remember). Then on top of it all they figured no one would find out it was fake 24p. That's was pretty bad. I actually got depressed for a few seconds that blu-ray won the format war.

I will say this, if they came out with an upgrade that was designed just like the Z1U but had 24p HDV, I'd be on it like hot cakes but this is the only product I want from Sony. I don't even own a PS3. My friend gave me his PS2 otherwise I wouldn't have that. I may buy a Z1U to do certain things or to rent but basically I'm moving to Canon. They seem to be doing it right. Canon so stole Sony's thunder in this area.
