How hands on are you as a director? How much "tech knowledge" should a director have? Personally, I feel that a director should be "well rounded" and versed in every area of filmmaking and their strongest area should be leadership. Thoughts?

I've decided to go with a 24-70mm f2.8 and 70-200mm f2.8 IS II lenses. In terms of still photography there seems to be 2 beliefs... zooms and primes. What route do you all use and what advantages and disadvantages do you see?

They both look promising as alternatives to DSLR's. Lets talk about the differences between the two cameras and debate on which one will end up being more useful ;) Obviously price is probably the biggest difference between the two.

Does anyone know what lighting fixtures are called that have 4 or so distinct bulbs in the same fixture? I've seen them used a lot in music videos as kickers behind the band. Thanks, Jon
