Light fixture terms/nicknames

Can someone please explain to me how nicknames play into the technical aspects of cinema lighting? I apologize if this is a stupid question- I'm pretty competent on lighting technique and what not but always get the nicknames confused. If there is a website out there that explains that works too. I just have yet to find such a place.

Example: Joker, Junior, Baby, etc.

When it comes to lights I almost only call them by their wattage, although knowing the nicknames is useful when working with people that use them.

A common occurrence on movie sets:
First the gaffer asks the grip for a baby, then says "No, how about a baby baby. We can hang them from the baby plates." Then the Dop asked for baby legs. Then the first AD says that they are ready for the scene with the baby. Then someone yells at the grip you need to run a stinger to the baby and hang the baby baby from a lollipop. Then someone asks for a C-47. Then the new guys head explodes.

All this is after the union rep fines the production for having a grip doing an electrician's work

Send the new guy to the truck for a skyhook then.
