HPX170 Lens Wobble Improved

Spec-Comm is awesome - I've got one of their fixes but I'd imagine the newly Osaka fixed cams will be in stock shortly.

i live in florida

I have been very happy with Spec Comm, they offer great customer service and throw in a free large capacity battery and a lens hood kit that has some cool stuff in it. E-mail Andrew Hoffman and tell him that you are a DVX User and would like to know if they have factory fixed 170s yet.

Good luck,

yea I just called spec-comm and and they said they might not get a new shipment of fixed 170's for another month, but they can fix them just as good...then I called B&H and some foreign guy with an attitude said they already had the new shipment in. Ill probly just get it from spec-comm because they were nicer

The primary difference is that we handle returns on a case by case basis where as B&H has specific policy listed on their site. We would like to be more flexible for you guys instead have having set numbers. Their return policy is very attractive to most though.

SC does charge a restocking fee. But my guess is that isn't set in stone. In fact to the contrary, it probably is the least enforced policy it has.

BHPhoto will allow a short grace period before it requires a stocking fee.

But what point are you making?

There's more to any company than a restocking fee. If you make a decision to buy a high ticket item, at least I would expect that you aren't going to "try it out" for a while first.

I would rather deal with the people at SC who have contributed here for years regularly.

I bought from Spec Com and they have been nothing but good. I talked to them today about the wiggle issue and they were very helpful and are going to contact me as soon as they get the parts from Panasonic for the fix. All I have to do is ship it to them when they e-mail me the shipping label, it's great.

Just got my shipping label from Panasonic for the wobble fix, addressed to Panasonic Broadcast & TV Systems in Secaucus, NJ. Anyone else get theirs?

Yes, camera shipped to NJ on Monday, they fixed it the day they received it and I would have had it yesterday were it not for a power failure in Secaucus, apparently. Pretty cool that Panasonic fixed it the day they received it and called me to tell me when it would ship. I will
receive it today, UPS has already called me this morning. I've never had this sort of service from Sony in 26 years, with cameras that cost ten times more than a 170!

DM rider, is Spec-Comm paying for overnight shipping both ways? If not, I would send to Panasonic.

Panasonic has definitely been responsive about fixing this problem. I feel a bit bad about driving this dramatically titled thread to the top of the queue again. Maybe it's my Internets naivitee talking, but perhaps the mod could change the title of the thread to "Wobble Fix--The Thread Formerly Known As 'HPX170 Show Stopper.'"

Okay, I just got my camera back from Panasonic. I will test it as soon as I can and if the wobble is fixed, I will change the thread title name!

I am sure that the lens fix is good. More importantly, did they respond to your request to turn the image pre-amplifier down a few dB?
