Break-in...

A suggestion

A suggestion

Some people will be seeing this post for the first time for another day or so (Some even longer) but I would like to suggest something to all of the "active" posters on here.

Let's follow Jim's example and move on. He has a camera to build, and we have a number of subjects and types of feedback to discuss..

Jim is on schedule, which means (I hope) they will be shooting this week and we will be seeing some MAJOR cool footage. If that changes, Jim will let us know. But until then, it was a break in.. It's over, Jim and the guys are back on track already.. I say we keep up and post in other areas.

over 16,000 views has happened on this thread, lets give them something else to read about.

It's just a suggestion...

Totally Agree. Lets move on. Positive energy!

I absoloutely cannot wait to see footage. I've set up the projector room for the occasion. :D

You guys may be sick of it but it's just breaking out today. I just heard about it this morning, so why it may be old news to daily vistors here, but its breaking news as of today.

Sometimes stating the obvious is needed and after I scanned 160+ posts, no one clearly made the fraud point.

It will be a story for sometime to come, unfortunately.

That's fine.. If you feel the need to keep talking about it, then do so. I'm sure glad the guys building the camera don't follow that train of thought though.

Another point: The people who are coming here to ONLY read about the breakin, are not really the people we need to be speaking too.. We're here for other reasons. But that's just my take on it.

See ya

Jay

I just wanted to put this out there, I'm not really sure how many people you have working there, but do you think it might be an inside job? Another good place to spread the word would be myspace.com .

It is so silly - if anyone will use what he got - everybody will know it. but in fact - we see a lot of people fearing red. I don´t know why - we see a very big chance with red - nevertheless we will rent also sony and panasonic - because it´s a complete different market. hopefully they will be caught - if I would know where to look for - I would go to do it ! Keep a sharp eye on it ! At IBC I talked with a friend of mine - he believes that one of the big companies will try to disturb or to spam or to harras the RED idea !
Take care Jim - you have a lot of people waiting on RED !

This sort of suggestion makes me ill to my guts.

Because when people suggest it, they never follow it to the logical extreme they're suggesting. Which is... are you doing everything personally you can to help "mankind"? Why stop with Jim J.? Shouldn't this also apply to yourself?

I mean, you live in the industrialized West, and compared to third world conditions you're rich beyond dreams. Maybe you should give everything you have past the bare minimum you need to survive in order to "help mankind"?

But wait, even better, why should you even determine what the amount you need to survive is? Maybe someone should tell you what that bare minimum is, and take away everything beyond that, to "help mankind". Limit individual success, and distribute the profits "fairly".

To Jim Jannard and the RED team... the violation you feel is felt by all of us here who understand.

To my friend and others with better ideas on the distribution of wealth...Go read "The Fountainhead" and "Atlas Shrugged", 'cause I cast myself with that damned selfish lot and consider them good company.

Thank you Jim. I was trying to figure out how to respond, but couldn't come up with something so well stated, because I was shaking with frustration. :)

i hate, and HAVE hated, nearly everybody on cinematography.com boards for years. they are old and tired

Yes, but think of the pluses to cinematography.com... it provides a nice, organized ban list of people who will never be allowed to purchase a RED camera.

Ok....

*EDIT Took out my cursing of the dummies. I calmed down :)

*EDIT = Wow. There were over 800 something users online today. 782 as of this typing. Geez.

Man there are times that I feel so darn paranoid. Red is shaking things up and they get broken into. The Tesla company comes out with their Tesla Roadster that runs on lithium-ion batteries so then everyone's laptop batteries start blowing up.

it's all threatening to turn me into a conspiracy nut. Arrrgh!!

And as for cinematography.com, those guys are always brutal about anything concerning video. And they especially have a mean-on for RED. I've been avoiding reading RED posts on there because it was pissing me off too much. Its a great resource for information, but I have posted there maybe twice and thats about it.

I'm not quite a RED fanboy yet (yet...!) but I think you guys are really doing something special. and I salute you.

The perpatrators of this crime will get theirs. and it will be a wonderful thing to behold.

We have to just try and ignore the trolls I guess. They show up on pretty much every forum and spout some incredibly stupid ideas just so that they can rile everyone up. You gotta think that they aren't really as dumb as they sound, it is possible but they sound really dumb. My take is that they are just mean spirited and this is the closest they can get to creativity.

Look guys take it easy, Jim lost most of everything and you guys are fighting, what's that going to solve?

I wouldn't mind 100k at all, so let's find the damn people that did this and make some money! :)

Theft Update...

Theft Update...

While items taken included many computers, drives, monitors, prototypes (including our "shiny" aluminum IBC prototype), ID files and our Scratch system... it appears that the thieves did NOT get any sensors, sensor information or our primary "Frankenstein" shooting camera. It took all the RED troops coming back in to put all the pieces together. We will resume shooting and testing tomorrow. This would be the easiest piece to identify as stolen.

BTW... I will only post on this board and dvinfo.net in the future. Too much work to concentrate on several boards. My best.

Rejecting cinematography.com is a very wise decision Mr. Jannard, ok, fanboyism isn´t that good either, but the behaviour on that forum by richard boddington, that grizzly-adams-avatar-guy and some other people is unacceptable.

Unfortunately David Mullen and a few other are the only people with a balanced opinion on the "red"-boards.

Hey that's FANTASTIC news about the sensor! As you have said many times this is the heart of RED..

Also cool is somewhere out there are some stupid thieves saying "WHAT!?!? You mean this shiny thing is NOT A REAL CAMERA?!?!"

That's cool.. They took stuff, but missed the two most important things.

I love poetic justice.
