No, i dont want a medal or trophy. I did make an impact on canon to wake the F%$# up and develop what we're looking for. RAW shooting, High Dynamic Range, Manual Control and professional audio. I asked them why they dont take the damn market with so many people looking for these features.
There are other undisclosed information, but i can tell you that Scarlet will have to really blow us away.. cause canon has some big surprises

In the end, we win :)
 
Here's all that I can imagine...

Canon Customer Service: Hello, this is Tim. How can I help you today?

Samtheman: Hi, Tim. I just wanted to call and let you all know about a fabulous business opportunity. If you included RAW shooting, High Dynamic Range, Manual Control and professional audio in your next DSLRs, you would sell a ton of them to video users - especially if you kept the price low.

Canon Customer Service: Whaaaaaa?!!?

Canon Customer Service immediately slams the phone down and sprints to the Marketing, Engineering, and Video divisions. Phone calls are made.

Minutes later, after the Board of Directors have flown in via really fast corporate jet and helicopter, Canon Customer Service explains the situation in the Top Secret underground bunker: If we make a really amazing product and sell it for virtually nothing, we'll sell a TON of them and make a lot of people really happy!

The next day, four new plants are opened as Canon shifts all of their production facilities to the production of the new DSLR 7V (V for video, dontchaknow).

DAMN IT YOU!!!!!! I was hoping for a smaller sensor, a much larger clunkier body, and a 27-step ingestion process.... Now you go and screw it all up !! Thanks a million!!!

LOL. everything minus the plants, they already owned these. The features they're including are the exact ones i proposed. Had to mention Scarlet though and how it would take us over if they didnt act quick. RAW mode at 2k is happening.

You seem to know "them" all. Could you call my neigbor above me and ask them to stop the funk using the tumble dryer at 8:30am sunday mornings...?

Hey samtheman. I want to thank you for your post. (honestly) It inspired the others in this thread to reply in ways that made the milk from my cereal come out my nose! So thank you EVERYONE for your first rate DVXUSER replies!

So samtheman...on a more serious note. Would you mind substantiating your RAW 2k post? I can tell you that most of us on this forum are fairly accustom to the "I woke up and the next thing I knew BIGFOOT CAME OUT OF MY CLOSET!" ....now....I'm NOT saying that you saw BIGFOOT. I'm not saying you didn't see BIGFOOT. I am saying that additional information will help us all to get our eyeballs to roll back to the frontward facing position instead of the upward facing position.

So...could you please elaborate?

Fair enough, i will mention what im able to mention. I suggested the major features we are looking for. I asked for RAW, no compression. I also asked for 2k and beyond as most filmmakers are looking for distribution or the big screen. I told them that there are many choices out there, but the smart one will develop what we are looking for. I mentioned Scarlet and the revolution RED caused.
I also mentioned how smart filmmakers are and that they know about terms like latitude, resolution, moire, 24p etc.

I told them that companies are not dealing with the same crowd as 5 years ago. The huge sales of the 5D and 7D proved that a LOT of filmmakers bought the camera for that feature, they had to get a really good wake up call.

They're not blind to filmmakers, they know what they're doing. They are doing it carefully, the same sensor spitting out RAW images will be able to spit out RAW motion, DOF as most of you know is there already, Resolution is coming, and thus revolution. They are listening.

3 of the 5 major features i asked for will be featured soon.
