Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

Hey Edwierdo thanks for all that, very helpful and has inspired me to make an adapter specifically for my old K3 Bayonet mount lenses.

hey has anyone here used the redrock ground glass in their adapter? I just ordered one for my static adapter as well as a Canon EE-A to see which compares better. Only NOW it occurs to me to actually ask...

No! No one seems to checked (as far as I know) - but perhaps you can add to our knowledge with your results..:)

zcream,

YouTube isn't the best place to show off adapter footage - the compression lends artifacting that most don't want to see as they analyze the footage

can you upload to a server with a larger file - I'm interested in looking :)

well the red rock micro glass is shipping out on monday, so I'll report with the results. The Canon EE-A should arrive around the same time, so in the meantime I'm assembling a duplicate copy of my (static) adapter.

My adapter uses a
(x1)58mm Asian Spacer Ring
(x3)58mm Filters (with glass removed)
(x1)58mm Cokin adapter with the FD Mount screwed & JB Welded onto it
(x1)58mm Century Optics 7+ Diopter
(x1)72mm-58mm Step down Ring

THe focusing screen sits inside the 58mm Filter Rings on a 49mm-52mm stepdown ring, screwed to a 52mm filter ring.

It's not dust protected, but it;s version 4 of my adapter cuz I wanted it more modular, especially with more control over the Focusing Screen element.
THe dust protection will come after i get the right distances sorted out...

I spent a long time working with wax GG and got one that looked ok, but the wax cristles are really not good with a satic adapter. However i think it could look really cool on a vibrating, of spinning glass vertion. it would be a real 8mm, street punk feel. has anyone done this?
i gave up on the wax verion and opted for the nikon D screen. looks really good. as long as there is no dust on the screen It is really good.

The Red Rock Micro focusing screen came in today (finally)

So it looks like I'll be building a spinning adapter.

I just got the Screen from Red Rock Micro and first thing I notice is a hole in the center. I'd completely forgotten about that, (since its for a spinner and all) so I immediately kicked myself.

I considered just trying to use a smaller part of it, since the actual disc measures 85mm, but one look through the glass shows all of this little grain... that will only vanish when it's spinning.

So the Red Rock Micro focusing screen is officially out of the running for a static adapter, and unless you guys are doing any cutting, it probably won't work for anything else.

got in the Canon Ee-s focusing screen and it completely kicks ass. Nice clarity all the way around and much better than the Nikon D. And the best part is that its easily available at amazon, bhphoto, adorama, etc... easy to mount too.

doesn't the ee - s have problems with it ? i thought somebody posted that there was a small circle in the middle

Holy cr*p! This is a long thread! I've been contemplating building one myself but now I don't know what to do! Thanks for that great PDF of the pertinant info - very useful. I wish some of the older footage was still available but that's OK. I keep changing my mind about static, vibrating and spinning. I found a great free plan for a spinner that worked with a specific CD blank but I can't find it. Just wondering if anyone had it and if the plans might be used with the redrock GG.

Also, has anyone tried one for medium format lenses? I have an old pentacon 6 with a great lens and it had this sick 3d look to the screen when you viewed the finder. I know you can get the camera cheap if you look around - it was like a big 35.

Exactly what I did.

I got it improofed now and it delivers much better pictures now.
I will post some footage soon.

As soon I got it working the way I want, I dump the plastic tube and rubber gromets and do it in aluminum on a lathe.

What's the song in the 35mm test 2 footage of the topicstarter? Maybe the answer is somewhere in this topic.. but it feels kinda unnecessary to scan 137 pages for the title if you know what I mean :p
