Yes I'm afraid I have another adaptor.

On page 19, Super8 says Canon EE-A and Canon EE-S focusing screen does not work because of a visible ring when zoomed in.

Have your test proved differently.

Let us know thanks,
Gav

i had no visible line... but then again my adapter is a vibrating adapter.. i dont recall it having the line even when turned off tho...

my favorite screen so far is seriously scotch tape mounted on a frame.. then installed on the vibrating motor.. it gives a really good 16mm look...if you want that look..

im building a 35 adapter, but when i ordered the 58mm +10 macro, the macro was 50mm with a outer 58mm ring? will this work or is it to small?

I can't tell you the relief I feel now that I've finally finished reading all 131 pages of this thread. Some time ago I was linked here from another thread (at this point I have no clue which one) and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. What day is it? What time? I must shave, shower. How old am I? My God, its 2007!!!

OK, but really... as glad as I am to finally have gotten through it, I'm also a little sad. This was once a thriving thread. Post after post was added in search of this holy grail of DIY cinema projects. Many succeeded and many others seemingly existed for no other reason than to encourage those who needed it. Now I feel like a visitor in a desert ghost town. This town has a story, a legacy - but only something to look back and reflect upon. Why?

The answer is simple; we all have lives. Many things happen over the course of a year. These things pull our attention in various directions. And it is human nature to refocus our interests once we have achieved a certain goal.

But the last post before mine was on 1/22/07. That was a month ago. I refuse to believe that in the past month there haven't been any other lurkers, eager to try their own 35 adapter, who have also made it through these 131 pages. Maybe they were discouraged at the lack of activity since about September of '06 (That was when Edweirdo last posted on this thread). Maybe they felt the thread was dead.

Well, in the spirit of reviving the nature of this thread I implore you lurkers to write your thoughts. And if you are an old cast member keen on rejoining the action, please do. I can tell you this; there have been a lot of unanswered questions. There have been many paths people have intended to take, or maybe did take, that were never followed up on. I intended to resurrect those questions and hopefully those still seeking information will once again find this a home to ask/post/comment/encourage/etc in any way possible.

Until then, off to Home Depot…

I can't seem to find anywhere to get one in Australia, could somebody help me find one? I checked eBay but found nothing. Also, is there an alternative to the F3 D screen that will be easier to find? Thanks, Jacob.

Just finished my cheap 35 adapter today.
My recipe:

Nikon extension tube (25 euro)
Ee-s screen (30 euro)
Cinedof vibrating screen holder 39 euro (actually came with two motors and a sticker to fasten the screen)
battery and the rest (5 euro)
And two step rings 37-52 and 52-58 mm.

About 120 euros with delivery

I used a really cheap camera (Sony dcr-hc85e, hence no close up lens) and three different nikon lenses

Note: it's really low light in the room so it's not the light loss

I had a canon fd mount camera. I used a tamron zoom lense, however I did need an adapter for the fd mount. It worked, but did not fit well. An f1.4 would give you the least amount of light loss. The higher the f stop the more light loss you will get.

No, it is not a good macro. It will get you there, but it will cause you distortion problems. You should pick one up to experiment if you can get it for cheap. In the end you will want an achromat.

Okey... **** man! i have gone from page to page now.. man that took about a day,.. And i had gatterted all the info i had to know to make my one... guess what? My computer died... So every damm info i had saved is gone. Does somebody have like a pdf file with everyting or do i have to go thrue 132 pages again :O?

Somebody should publish a book...

>thanx guys i found a tutor to make a acromat but is that worse as an asian lens

Why? I did something like this and it's absolutely crystal clear. In fact, I've used the adapter for several commercial productions that have been broadcast.

two quick questions:

1. which side of the focusing screen should be facing the lens? (i.e. clear side/frosty side)

2. which side of the macro should be facing the lens? (flat side/bulging side)

i saw the answer in this thread a long time ago, i've been searching through it again and can't find it for the life of me :(

I also have a question. I read the entire thread and found a TON of great info and I believe I will end up using the Canon EE-A focus screen for now statically and then on down the road put in the vibrating part that Daniel sales. Question is, does the Canon focus screen require a condenser like the Nikon D does?

No, you don't need condenser, because EE-A ( and EE-S ) have fresnel lens ...
