XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Great, thanks Jestorius, now I just want to see something with a lot of color so I can get a sense of how the camera is reproducing it....your examples are great to show the black level and contrast abilities of the camera but you can't get a sense of the colors at all.

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

it is not my, I have only a PD150 Pal

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

I don't know was it just me, but did the stills of the dolls freak anyone else out they looked sort of eerie. I'm scaried now.

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Why don't you do like this:

Make a webpage with those stills or videos you mean it is not possible to remake with other kind of camcorder in the same $-range. Show all those settings no one can reproduce.

So long I have only read that "we are the best with our 24p and cine color". I have seen many good videos made by a DVX, XL1/2 or PD150(VX1000 etc) with nice color and light settings but non of those are unbeatable so long. And videos posted on the web are hard to judge because the compression.

http://www.dogme95.dk/menu/menuset.htm - they have made FILM, not video with a filmlook but celluloid, with a dv camcorder.

The Water's Edge is noicey because of the compression. I don't think the original is noicey.

http://www.kopfrauschen.de/view_en.php?page=dv35m - if you would like to make film with your camcorder. Take a look. You don't need fancy equipments to make a film, just do it.

It is some of the best controlled sunrise stuff shot on video I have seen.   It reminds me of "Winged Migration."   Very good.

Panasonic should be using this at their trade shows.

Wow, that was relaxing... that was shot on DVX right?

Who's Pine Lake Films? Is it someone from this forum?

The XL2 touts the ability to shoot at 24P and use film-like color with its cine setting. I haven't seen a single example of that combo (that's the combo I use on the DVX exclusively).

Yeah, me too. I only use 25p cine settings.

Pine Lake Films would be "disjecta", a fellow member.[/quote]
Ah, hence the duck avatar ;)

Disjecta, that was great footage. One question, where do you get the music?

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Tony for the Water's Edge and Marymoor, I lifted the soundtracks and will try to get competition or festival rights if I decide to do something with it but I am using similar music for my latest projects from a library called Killer Tracks.

Marymoor is from the Cold Mountain soundtrack.

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Hey all,

I just bought an XL2 at work, I opened the box today and looked at it... unfortunately I don't have any time to really do a comparison with my DVX100A at home, or I would totally A/B it... Still, Jarred's working on this, right? I'm sure that'll answer all our questions.

Nice looking (and feeling) cam, though.

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Barry Goyette posted a link to some footage on DVi recently that has tweaked settings. Not sure if this has been mentioned here yet or not:

"Barry's SuperPolarized Technicolor Dream

Gamma: Cine
Knee & Black: Middle
Color Matrix: Cine
Color Gain: +4
Color Phase: neutral
R gain: +2
G gain: +3
B Gain: -2"

Re: XL2 Footage with 24p and cine settings?

Yes, very clean image.

As for the frame rate, I assume it was 24p (FileSharing24?) :D

All the best

Fidel.
