Xh A1 Pal?

Is there anyone who have the PAL version of the camera?

Is there anyone in Europe that have one?

I have ordered a A1 (to Stocholm, Sweden) that should have arrived earlier today. But it didnt show up.
:furious3:

Canon cant say when it will arrive. Im going to use the camera in a documentery project in Chile from the 3rd of december and im starting to get anxios
that it wont be here in time.

I started to think that maybe there is some problem with the PAL version and thats why the camera havent showed up in Sweden!?

Hello, welcome to DVXuser! :)

One day late delivery is hardly a viable sign of a problem with the camera. Patience.

Hello again William. :)
It sucks you did not get it in time, but there are a few weeks left. So this camera was supposed to be in Sweden by now? I can't find it anywhere. Where did you order it?

Thanks, i hope your right.. This seems to be a realy great forum

I´ve orded it from "Lindkvist radio och tv" (www.LRTV.se). They thought that it maight be some problem because it would be delivered in all of europe at the same time and that if only one delivery is late everybody will have to wait.

It would realy suck to go back to the pd150 now when my mind is set up on this camera.

Out of curiosity how much does the a1 cost in SKR? Im glad I don't need to buy equipment in sweden anymore. Always much more expensive :/

Markitto:
About 28000skr ex moms.

By the way.. I got hold of some canon people and they say that it will arrive the 29th this month.. thats about three days before I fly to Chile... I dont know what to do.. Should I hope that it will arrive in time and be ok for filming with out any testing or should I try to get hold of another camera (that wont be as good)?

Hm..

3 days, huh? Tough seat. I would try to get a hold of another camera if I could. Or would you risk going to Chile without one?

Good to know when it will come to Sweden anyway. I thought it would be here yesterday because I think I read something about it being released in the UK yesterday. On the other hand, I might be completely wrong.

Yeah.. Im thinking of what kind of camera I can buy for the same money and get as good or almost as good result.. hm.. any sugestions?

Where did you reed that? If its released in the UK maybe I can buy it there?

how about an ntsc version?

how about an ntsc version?

If you're planning on showing your project in the cinema, and especially if you're planning to transfer the video to film, how about an NTSC-land version of the camera? You could buy it from B&H or something, shoot your project in 24F, and then later, when you have the time to wait, send the camera to a canon service center for the $500 USD upgrade to 50i/25F. I'm pretty sure said upgrade exists.

Hm.. the problem is that we have worked with the projekt in two years and allredy filmed some material with a Pd150 that will end up in the film.

To mix the fotage from the two cameras will be tricky enough with PAL versions of the cameras. And theres no garantie that a camera from the states will arrive in time either.. but its an ide... and it might work.. I will lock it up..

My suggestion is keep your film consistent and rent a PD150/PD170 and shoot the rest of the film in SD as well and shoot the next film entirely in HD instead. I'm not so sure if a mix of different resolutions would look so good on the big screen, but then again, I don't know what type of movie you are making. It might work for some films I guess. :)

I know we had this discusion on Voodoofilm.. but I still think that it would serve the film to start filming with a better camera.. and because were filming in so many totaly different places like the dessert in the north of Chile and the winter landscapes in the north of sweden.. and interior shots as well.. Ive been talking alot with teachers and other people that have been working as mentors with our projekt and they all agre that it would serve the film.. and our financers (that we are hoping to get allot more from) also like the idé of ous filming with an HDV-camera.. and we realy like to do a nice locking and visual film..

If you really want to go on with HDV I guess you could just rent a Sony HDV camera for now to be sure you will have HDV in Chile. It would still be somewhat consistent (image wise) since you would be shooting with the same brand. Then you get the A1 and have lots of time to learn how to use it properly before your next film.

hi Willliam! I live in Chile, I work in the audiovisual industry , if I can be of any help please feel free to ask.
Good Luck here.

I think we are going for the A1 and if it wount show up in time we will buy another camera from the same dealer. Then we will probable buy the fx1 with an xlr-adapter... or try to change the tickets to a later date... any thoughts about the fx1?

Hi, thanks for the offer. We will be filming in Arica. Where in Chile do you work?

I live and work in Stgo...actually here is where you can find options of equipment a lot better than Arica. Anyway Arica is a nice place...what's the documentary about?

Its about swedish toxic waste from the mining industry and how it have affected people in a community in Arica. We have been filming in Arica and in the north of sweden where the swedish mining company has its production.

Santiago.. I kind of guest it =) What kind of work do you do?

I'm an actor, but also directing lately.
I have a small production company and doing lot of work.
Cool documentary, good luck
