Workflow

I'm curious about what people are doing for workflow in FCP. Lets say you are recording to P2 cards and heading to editorial in FCP. What is your workflow, when do you back up your P2 volumes and to what media and finally what is your volume of data per project in GB?

Just curious about what people are doing and why.

There's a lot of different ways to go with it. I do a nearly 3 hour DVD outlining my methods which include cloning all P2 contents to Raids in the field. Also Barry Green does in field workflow on his discs.

I know have a work flow that works for me and has been solid across many projects. No offence guys but I'm not really looking for a buying opportunity, I'm more interested in eliciting a response to get a picture of what people are doing across the spectrum....

So ask a specific question and you'll get an answer. If it's just- "what is everyone doing" then spend some time doing your research on the net, you'll find plenty of workflows both here and elsewhere via Google. If you just want it spoon-fed to you for free that's asking a lot- no offense. We've spent our time and money producing in-depth workflow tutorial courses chock full of useful and timesaving information we've learned over many years.

Why would we give it to you for free just because you're "not looking for a buying opportunity?" In my never to be humble opinion if you've just spent $5K+ on a camera it's a real bargain to get expert in-depth workflow guidance for $75 but that's not affordable for everyone I suppose.

Guys, You might have mistaken me for a beginner. I am probably not since I have been shooting P2 based projects for more than 2 years in various parts of the world.

I'm not interested in stealing any one's information that they are selling in DVD form- I reiterate, I was looking a spectrum of simple responses as to what people are doing in different situations. I've got my own workflow going, it works, just finished a long form Doc for PBS, got another one in the works....

I'm interested in getting outside of my own approach and thought a post on this list where quite a bit of information gets shared might illuminate some approaches that I may have overlooked at one time or another.

Fine- if you want a detailed response ask a specific detailed question. Describe your current workflow step by step and we can advise you where you might improve.

Lets drop the topic. My intent was not to get into an argument over something like workflow. I am not trying to steal anyone's work- I've always approached this list as a forum where information was shared and that's what I do when people ask me questions.

I was not trying to get answers to a specific question, I was asking a broad question, and maybe I did not do a good job of that, but apparently Noah doesn't read posts very well either.
Noah, if you are at NAB we can have a beer :-)
