only thing that would be useful for me would be 1080 60p or maybe 2k so I can down-rez to get a cleaner image... but i'm not holding my breath.

So it looks like the Ustream video is offline but I believe it .
With or without raw video the canon's ( 5d, 7d , etc) have already made theire way to Hollywood and other big productions like it or not .

Dont have much to lose in believing !

Happy New Year every one.

You can EASILY shoot a movie in 4k resolution on the Canon T2i without any firmware hacks whatsoever!

As long as it's stop-motion...

I'm honestly at least rooting for a 2K hack (it's simply a change in aspect ratio and better implication would make it a perfect resolution) and I don't see why it hasn't been done. I'm very surprised the 60D didn't have 2K, Canon should know their target audience is way past the Youtube stage by now, with films like The 3rd Letter being filmed on the MKII, with Black Swan incorperating the DSLR's for a scene, and that 48 Hours or whatever movie also doing the same. When dealing with these cameras, its not exactly heart-warming to cut half the picture out of a already-low-quality video.

Its possible . From some of the responses and replies i've read, it seems from reading between the lines as though they have possibly tricked the time lapse feature into doing video frame rates

from Phillip Bloom's site

"This all came about from a couple of guys sitting on the couch, drinking beers and watching football. The question was ” If we can make a 4k timelapse and take pictures in 5184×3456, can we make the thing shoot video in 4k without destroying the camera and at minimal bitrates?” At first all we kept coming up with was NO it can’t be done."

The sensor already has problems resolving video frame rates at 1080p, I find it hard to believe that 2k/4k is even possible with the current hardware.

The Red guys have said mucho that the Canons suffer from the inherent limitation of sensor speed... and if resolution was higher, rolling shutter would be significantly worse...
but I Want To Believe. What Barry pointed out about his language is disheartening though.

*Also, a lot of people here aren't over in the GH2 side... check that thing out. Pretty much answered the problem of a lack of cinema resolution on dslrs. Has the t2i beat! {for now...}

...sigh. the "teaser" isn't even hard to fake. I hate these guys for making me think it's possible.

I want to believe...

But every bone in my body is telling me not to...

But as long as we're dreaming...

...what I think WOULD be pretty cool if they can do it though, is a "windowed" mode on the 5D mark II. If they could do an APS-C windowed mode, that would be about 3.7k x 2.1k. Which is still about 4 times the current data rate from a pixel count standpoint. Having said that, Magic Lantern has already proven that the camera is capable of more. (66mbps stable over standard of 40mbps or something like that, right?) I'd be willing to drop in-camera audio on top of that and skip less lines on the sensor for better/less moire and hopefully get better/less rolling shutter if they can completely ignore the dropped part of the sensor.

Guys, forget about the 4K hack. I just wrote a hack for 8K Raw @ 200fps. Here's the proof:

I mean that just proves it. F**k you all sceptics.

Will sell it for only 500$ tomorrow. :-)

....

This is the only plausible explanation... That would explain how they could fix moire at higher resolutions.... Or am I missing something???

I'm a rather 'half-full' than 'half-empty glass' kind of guy so I'll give them benefit of doubt to prove us sceptics wrong. We'll find out soon;)
