Which DVXuser member has influenced you most?

Barry Green - for being the man, yet still responding to newbie questions

Cranky - for insulting me in one thread, while simultaneously taking the time
to help me on another. I don't understand him, but would morn his absence.

P.

I have. Every time I shoot something, I notice something either really cool that I'd like to do again, or so terrible it makes me cringe and swear to never repeat the mistake.

I try not to let what others are doing change my methods too much and focus on what's in my head... which is a really terrifying place.

I love you all. But I'd say Barry Green more, lol. Endlessly informative (as are many), but I own his spiffy sound DVD, and I like that. (although via DVD props must be given to Matt G. as well)

Also Zak Forsman. Not so much influenced or educated by, but just a big fan of his work. As an actor, his films touch on something so real and subtle. Rarely do actors NOT have to work with mediocre at best material. So Zak, thank you for giving actors something better to work with.

I learned more than a ton here, because (unlike on other boards) this is a place where people really try to help each other and give solid advice.

Maybe this is the right place and time to say "thank you guys" to everyone.

Influenced? I don´t know.
But Faith Granger is always a big inspiration, that teaches me, that you can make something great out of nothing but sheer dedication and if you really want it, there are no excuses.

Lesson learned.

Frank

Gotta say my local pals Stephen Mick, Luis Caffesse, and Jack Stanley.

I've learned a lot about filmmaking and life from these three.

damn...didn't know this thread would do anything. i was sincere in my original post, and since, i have seen quite a few names repeated over and over...let's hear it again for Joe Dono though, yeah?

Terry_Lasater and ugafan obviously :D
I concur sir! Uga cracks me up and Terry's daily pics are the best.

Also Baz, jds, mattinSTL (mattin is such a cool name... Kidding).

Whatever happened to Oleg? A very knowledgible dude.

I also applaud Robbie Comeau for his genuine love and enthusiasm for his movies.

Ps. I've just became an uncle for the first time!

Mark Johnson was my first influence getting involved in VFX.
Gotta give a shout out for Jason "The Ram" Zee . Been my biggest influence to date. Good or bad, blame him. Not me.

Barry Green

and

Mark Johnson

I knew Mark in a different life though. We were both lawyers dabbling in video and forensic animation. Actually, I was dabbling and he was doing.

We edited on a video vision studio board using 840 Megabyte AV drives in Premiere 1 I think. It used pixel doubling to produce a 640x480 image.

We shot with a Sony Hi-8 cam, and then a VX1000. What a change that was.

Mark is one of the most talented people I've know.

Justin Evans - A Lonley Place for Dying thread was also outstanding!

:)
