Where to get the Tokina 11-16mm?

So I'm starting to build up my lens collection and one of the lenses I want to purchase is the Tokina 11-16mm EF Lens. The problem is that just about all reputable dealera (that I've found anyway) is out of stock. This includes, but is not limited to:

Adorama, B&H Photo, Samy's, J&R, Amazon

So what's the deal? Why is this lens that hard to get? I don't necessarily want to buy one on eBay.

Any thoughts as to the great Tokina shortage?
 
Mine for $1,200.- but you have to act now.

Many small shops will let you leave your name and number and will call you as soon as they come in. I did this with several , only someone PMed me offering theirs. Luckily the warranty is good so long as you have a photocopy of their receipt from their original purchase.
 
$1,100.- But you have to call within the next 20min., cause we can't do this all day.

Richard, you don't want to sell yours, it's got sentimental value now. :)

I am obviously kidding about mine too, but try the small shops and get on a bunch of waiting lists. Just make sure they know that you have your name on others as well.
 
Woodland Hills Camera got a bunch today - Friday 2010 01 29.
Woodland hills, CA - Greater LA - ie. Like totally the valley.
 
Aww, RATS. I just missed out on B&H! I saw it in stock but they weren't accepting order until this evening and when I went to purchase it BAM - out of stock. Any other online retailers?

I think a lot of people had their shopping carts ready to go (I know I did) as soon as 6:30 rolled in.

Amazon has it for $729; use camelcamelcamel while you check around.

Probably because of demand. It focuses the right way for cine focus pulling so more people are buying it. I bet it is the retailers hiking it up.
