Where Can I get A Grey Market HVX?

I know you all discourage buying grey market products but some people have mentioned that there are grey market retailers are reliable and at least deliver a working warranty. I do not care about a warranty or rebates. Are there any sites that declare openly that they sell grey market cams and are reliable? They don't have to have perfect customer service but I don't want to have to deal with a bait and switch. Any recommendations? Are there any stores that sell cheap grey market products but don't lie to you and overcharge your credit card? Thanks in advance.

I wouldnt

I wouldnt

I would highly suggest you not get one if you are going to buy a grey market one. Maybe you can go in on one with a couple of friends and still pay the same that you would for a grey one, just certified one. I just want to remind you that ALL cameras not certified Panasonic cameras do not come with any kind of warranty nor do you get the incentives offered at the Panasonic website. You are taking a huge chance!

I do believe that Newegg was selling some gray market cameras a few months ago (IIRC). They are a reputable company who won't cheat you.

The problem is, that to find a gray market camera, from a company that is trustworthy, you are paying close to the price of a "legit" camera but sans all the goodies. I would say it isn't worth it. If you want to save some bucks buy used.

i agree that buying grey is better than buying used. price will be about the same. you may get some kind of 3rd party warranty with a grey. no warranty on a used unless it's less than a year old and you get the receipt. grey cam at least has not been used (or abused). i'd say the biggest risk is the retailers who sell grey are generally scumbags. they may send you a defective cam that someone else returned and you are stuck with a problem... there is this guy on ebay selling them for $4000ish and he has some positive feedbacks from hvx buyers. his definitely includes all the standard accessories. i would trust him before buying from brooklyn. those guys will strip everything out of the box and just send the camera. to replace the missing battery, charger, and component cable will cost you a chunk.

i saw some greys at adorama awhile back. they were called "import" models. i have bought from them before and no probs. i just checked though and they don't have them now...

i always said i would buy a grey but when it came time to throw down the cash, i bought new from evs for $4995. it cost me $1000 more but i have a warranty and i get the anton bauer battery offer. however, if i were planning to buy used, i think i would rather go grey.

My girl's dad is vice president of an electronics distributor and hooked me up with a company called www.zoomania.com . I didnt order offline but went to the showroom and saw everything with my eyes. I picked up my hvx for $3,300.00 and then a $100.00 for the mack warranty. Check them out, beware however they are a bait and switch company but they don't really hassle all like that and my camera was 100% legit, sealed with everything. Worth a try !

We have B-Stock cameras in stock. We are reputable and it's the "legit" way to get a opened box camera with some sort of warranty. And we WILL support you.

$4299 w/ original box, all accessories and 90-Day Warranty.
$4199 w/ original box, all accessories (minus charger. It was missing when we got it from Panasonic) and 90-Day Warranty.

We have these two and they are first come, first serve. Happy B-Stocking! :)

Gray market cameras . . that's a new one on me. Gray market sounds like the Brooklyn camera dealers to me, the one's that you read about that are associated to the word "horror."

i got mine from a shop on ebay called digital4U, cam's are shipped from hong kong,
2 year mach warranty-no problems,
this was about a year ago, cam cost about £3000 compared to approx £6000 from a UK dealer!

Excuse my ignorance, but what is a B-stock camera? Are they the same model? I might be interested but I have to get a little more money.

Same model. And they are in like new condition. They are usually opened by Panasonic when we get them because they were used at a show to put on a tripod and have people look at them. Then they offer the camera to us at a special price and we push that savings over to you. The only major difference is you don't get the 1-year warranty, you get a 90-day warranty instead. With that said, we have our service center go through every B-Stock camera with a fine tooth comb to make sure the camera is perfect. Something you don't get when you buy used or even gray. And very unlikely a defect will surface after our techs have gone through the camera. We have one unit complete and one with a missing battery charger for $100 less.

Let me know if I answered your question or not. :)

As I understand it, B-Stock is also sometimes "refurbished" product - something that was returned (presumably, immediately) after purchase as defective and repaired by the manufacturer. Is that correct?

Also, in my own experience, some B-Stock product has shown considerable cosmetic wear, like minor scratches and scuffs. Usually it's good as new though, and in most cases pristine looking.

Fast Frankie Five Fingers here and son do I have a deal for you. People ask hey FF how do you sell them cameras so cheap, one word volume, these babies go to eleven, not ten like your of the shelf stuff, these cameras were smuggeled out of japan by camera mules, but don't worry we clean'em up so there're spic and span just for you and for the next ten minutes the first 1000 callers get, absolutely free mind you, a battery. Call now 1-800-555-5555 tell'em Frankie sent ya.

Ted,

The B-Stock cameras that we receive from Panasonic have been in like new condition. Back when B-Stock DVX100's where coming in on a regular basis, we would get one that had a problem once in a while but that hasn't been the case with the HVX200's. They have to sell them to us as B-Stock since they have ben opened and cannot be sold as A-Stock.
